    how much difference is normal stainless steel bends vs mandrel bend... am I loosing a lot of hp, will this affect the sound of a cat-back.

    • Im no expert but dont count on the exhaust to boost allot of HP anyway...Just keep in mind it will flow as well as your narrowest part will allow.


      I dont have mandrel bends. Wish I did but I needed an affordible setup at that time.

      • You are loosing most of your hp right around the resonator. Look at one that has been on for a while. You will see it begin to doscolor where the choke points are. It gets somewhere under 2 inches. Sam knows for sure. He pointed that out when he did my exhaust. Another thing is the heat properties of the t3 stainless. It actually burns off the sut inside the pipes and keeps it from getting blocked up as bad as reg cheap pipes. Aslo the other pipes will rust up on you and the t3 stainless wont. Sam told me that he ordered some stainless from some guy and when it got in he shent it back because he could tell it wasn't the highest quality. It was cheaper but not good enough for him to put it out to us.

          how can you tell if the stainless isn't a top quality to use if you buy it online?

            He is talking about sam the guy that actually makes the exhaust. When he ordered it from his wholesaler and got the stainless he saw that it wasn't good enough for him to sell.

              • Hey all I got a flowmaster 80 series and a magnaflow 4 in straight through muffler for a resonator. My exhaust guy says he can't do it because there is not enough space for it in the rear because of teh stock one going in the mddle and something about the flex pipe up front. That he can't take the resonator out. I know this has been done and I am kinda mad as I really wanted to get that muffler on.

                It's for an 06 GTP.

                Anyone in the Lehigh Valley that has a guy that can do this please let me know. Obvisouly my guy can't.

                • Its different but i think its good to stand out of the rest of the pack....im plannin to get a lip made to cover around the two tail pipes...so it aint done yet....and the best part it sounds like a beast i get compliments on it all the time.....hopefully get some video of it soon for all ya

                      ...But something definally needs to be done so they fit with the rear valance better. You could get the dual outlet rear valance for the GTP's then cut it so the exhaust fit better in it... or just cut the entire right side of yours to save $.

                          • Well talked to the exhaust shop this morning and apparently the flex pipe is 2 inches into the resonator so he is installing a new stainless steel flex thats 2.5 inches. Total cost around 500 bucks. We'll see how it turns out.

                            • What would happen if I just had the resonator removed and replaced with straight pipe? Would it make it too loud? Or I could replace the resonator with a smaller one from Magnaflow. I'm just looking for a fairly cheap way to get more sound for now. BTW I have a 2007 GTP with the 3.6. Thanks.
