what does the stock system on our cars have to do with the replacement performance cat-back from gm? How would you base your opinion on what comes stock in our cars to what gm's performance cat-back?

i was thinking about the same thing, i found these 2 Borla mufflers really cheap, if i cut the tubes and custom fit them to the G6 just like at the top, it might work right?
They say the have a good sound, but i know much about it, anyone thinks its a good idea or a horrible one??

Well, Im probably gonna get the gm cat back system and be the guinea pig for all of us. I say that because my father's best friend is over the parts department at the local dealership and he quoted me a really sweet deal on the system installed. Mainly he priced it so low since my dad and him go waaaaay back, but also he REALLY wants to hear what the system sounds like and performance gains. So I will let you all know how it goes when I get my G6 in. I guess I could go ahead and buy the system and just blow really hard into it to see what the sound is like... but i dunno...2008 Pontiac G6 GXP Street Edition

Wish you the best. If you don't like it slang it off and get something else. I'm sure there are plenty of people that would take it off your hands.Originally posted by NikkiYou are an e-pimp.Originally posted by beitodesstrafeI tried too, my penis way too big

I think I'm going to put the factory air intake back on and see what happens. Maybe to much air for the fuel now.
Could the exhaust resonator have something to do with it also? I think I'm going to get it taken off. It sounds just the way I want it at idle. But it kind of sounds like a low tone muffled four cylinder when on the gas. I obviuosly scared the guy when I said I wanted it quiet.
The resonator on there is bout 12 inches long (maybe longer)and 4inches in diameter. Do they have shorter ones? Maybe I just want a shorter one rather than taking the whole damn thing off.2007 G6 GT w/sport package (leather seats, sunroof, monsoon stereo)

OK. I'll just wait for the Vector tune and figure out a way to get the exhaust tuned in to it later. I didn't plan on losing the torque. I did what I thought was a good thing for the engine.2007 G6 GT w/sport package (leather seats, sunroof, monsoon stereo)

Okay... so Ive gotten my inside man with GM to get me that good deal on the exhaust. $399 installed. Surely this cat back system will not screw with any of the low end or top end power since its designed by GM for that platform. Any ideas? The parts guy and the dealership doesnt think it will and expects some decent hp gains. They (the dealership and the parts guy) want me to see if I can find a CAI as well. It shouldnt really matter if I do one and then the other later though should it?2008 Pontiac G6 GXP Street Edition

No, it won't matter. I did my exhaust 1st. I think I may be the 1st member to do an exhaust on an '05 GT.
You have to take lots of pics when this exhaust comes in.G6P member 340

hey I was wondering, How much of a gain in performance would you get if you had no exhaust at all? I'm talking about taking the cat, mufflers and tubing off completely and then running just a straight pipe.
I was wondering about this cause I might be moving in the spring to a state that doesn't have any vehicle inspections or emmissions tests. And I would be living way out in the country far away from any sort of a big town that would have noise ordinances. It was a passing thought that I had.

Magnaflow makes one but its a single....I think Borla now makes one as well....also a single. DO a search for part numbers.
You can fab one up yourself (what I did long ago) or the GT-R Y-exhaust.
The GT-R looks the best. We are lucky to have him here making them for us.
Top notch too from all the reviews. Please consider supporting G6P -Tap here

i just took my car out on a little trip (70 MPH cruise on, 75% flat roads, no wind, 60 miles one way) and noticed a automatic jump reading with my DIC.
Normally, it took me almost a constant 70 MPH going about 500 miles to reach 29.5 MPG, literally took me 5 miles to read that high on the DIC. What does this mean? The GT-R exhaust improved my highway gas mileage by a good amount - alot more than expecting.
now, if I would quit getting on it in town, my city mileage would be good too!2008 Chevrolet Cobalt SS T/C

Looking to get the 80 series flowmaster. I'm confused as to what one I need I need single inlet with duel outlets but the duel outlets must be on both sides. The pictures I'm finding don't look like they even make anything I need. Any help would be appreciated.Official Lawbreaker of the SWO
