  • Re: EXHAUST!(Any Info or questions post here)

I spent about 20 min digging through the thread, please forgive me for not reading all 68 pages...

Just curious about something.... I have the dr. speed intake but I'd like a little more sound. I really like the GTR exhaust, i'm just not sure if want to spend quite that much... I'm not too particular about performance gains, I know almost nothing about the topic... Is it possible to just replace the muffler or somthing to get a different sound? Any recommendations? BTW, its an 06 GTP 6spd Sedan... thanks...

Mines a GT but I did it and it's no louder then stock. I got the 2 1/2 bent pipe from Auto Zone and drilled a 1 1/2 hole in the other end of the muffler{ It was louder on the way to the muffler shop} And had the muffler shop weld the pipe to the muffler then it sounded stock which is good because I didn't want it any louder. I added 2 4in oval tips to top it off. No performance increase at all of course{Which I knew there would be none} It's for looks only. The only reason I even made a hole in the other side instead of a dummy pipe is for the condensation to come from both pipes. It may not be for every body but it works for me.

I was simply implying that I realize such a mod would not increase performance gains, I'd just like something a little louder... if its not possible, I'll order the GTR and get the best of both worlds.. Thanks for such a helpful post...

I swayed you to the gtr exhaust with that post?

            I just won.

The rest of you lose the game however.

You havent swayed anything... I just wanted a helpful response... I still dont have one. I'm open to GTR, but if I can get some volume from something less expensive, I'd rather do that.. There, thats my original post for the third time... any help?

Get the GTR. It's only $599 and it's good quality.

Or you could just delete the resonator or muffler...

there is a member that chopped off his stock muffler..and it got louder, so yea you can probably do that, and then just get a pipe to contine to the back, without the muffler, so you will have a finished off tip at the end by your bumper

take it to a muffler shop in your area, and ask for them to weld on a new muffler (Borla, Flowmaster, Magnaflow) just to give it more sound.. but that will still be pricey. prob. like 300-350

so i would just go GT-R .. a little more money willl go a lot farther

replacing muffler and some piping will make it louder. your local shop should be able to easily help you with that

but why add exhaust that will probably hurt performance instead of help?

Been looking online for an exhaust set up on my 08 G6 with the 3.5L I looked at my local dealership web page and noticed that they have an Cat back exhaust setup for 2.4l, 3.5l, and the 3.6l

                        3.6L
                        2.4L and 3.5L

I'm wondering if anyone has tried this and like it and also been looking for a dual Exhaust that the 3.6L has and was wanting to know if that will work for the 3.5L.from what i can see it should work but all i need is the valence from the GT mod

if those r the GM performance exhaust, i have heard they r not the best. as for the valance u need the gtp or gxp rear valance/bumper for a dual exit

I have my valence, but now the question.......... first off I went to my local muff shop. He said put a dynamax single inlet duel outlet muffler on and replace the resinator with a glass pack???? muffler in the middle. Will I recieve any gains from this alone? Also will any larger pipe benefit me if I only replace from the resinator back? I think I read somewhere that near our flex pipe it reduces below 2"? I was quoted $350 CDN dollars :P to have it all done. Should I pay a little more for bigger gains? Better muffler choice than Dynamax??? I want a nice mid performance setup with a mid level (Acura TL) but a tiny bit louder style sound. I also have a 3" CAI and no AIR RESINATOR up front. I would rather spend $500 for a better setup.....

Maybe I should do something to eliminate the area where it goes below 2"? what is stock exhaust 2"?
