if I don't need a crank re-learn there will be no CEL? - like how will I know?

No cel-you're fine. It'll pop a code when it sees it needs a case relearn

When I installed WAMS everything was fine (And awesome) for a month, then the CEL came on, so I brought it to a mechanic. He was checking the codes and then asked "are you sure this is a Pontiac G6?" (......I must look like an idiot, or really not know how to pick mechanics), anyways he obviously couldn't find what was wrong so he cleared the code and said "it was probably just a bad fuel batch", 2 weeks later, my CEL is back on, should I just goto a local dealership and ask for a crank relearn and hope that's my problem? Also my remote starter no longer works, any possible correlation? I've kinda been pinning these problems on the -30 degree weather in Wisconsin, but it's warmed up a bit so I figured it should be fine or back to normal by now!

Hmm, sounds funny. Are you sure you have a G6?

lol but for real, maybe bring it to a dealer, but they might charge you just to run the codes. Next time you have a mechanic run codes, have them either print them out, or write them down for you.

now the shifts a bit sluggish and jerk here and there but Chris tells me in email that's because the BCM is leaving the new shifts from the TCM. Anyone know about how many miles it takes to relearn everything?

Dealership was a pain to get it done; i made up a dead battery excuse and it was still hard then.... it failed the 1st 2 times, told him I had the batery uplugged for a few days (more like 30 minutes) and he found the brake sensor wasn't reading right on the BCM, so he really gunned it and it finally read correctly and the re-learn was successful.

Not sure on the TCM, my car has the 6 speed, so i cant change mine out without taking tranny apart... Or driving to chris is having him tune it.

Installed ECM, did crank relearn, and drove for 5 miles; did a 0-90 pull with zero problems with shifting or anything.

On the crank relearn the Tech didnt go to WOT the first one or two times as instructed by the tool so thats normal from what you described.

On the TCM like I mentioned in the last email to you, the TCM has specific sets of parameters that it wants to achieve based on the calibration; the big one at play here is shift time. There is a set time for the TCM to try to achieve a shift per gear. What TCM will do (over simplifying a bit) is ramp pressure in a little bit each shift to try and meet that time (you can see this in the shift adapts on a Tech 2). The function of the adapts is to keep the transmission shifting like brand new as the transmission wears, as components wear the line pressure is bumped to make the shift feel the same.

Our product does shorten the shift times a bit (nothing crazy) and assumes a 100% healthy transmission, so if your car has almost 123K on it (based on the picture you sent me) and has the original transmission its possible that the trans was worn enough that it had already maxed the adapts out on the STOCK tcm. This TCM is designed to shift FIRM not smoothly so make sure you aren't confusing firm/quick shifts with it being jerky its not meant to be buttery except at slow speed/light throttle like you are describing.

The other facet to this is they DO shift higher IE it will hold gears slightly longer especially at WOT.

If it ends up being still too harsh or jerky you can put your stock TCM back in and send us that one and I can dial the shift settings back closer to stock for you.

Ahh that makes sense. So if it doesn't change I can put the stock TCM in and not need a engine relearn. Will the stock relearn remember the settings it had on the 123k tranny yesterday?

WEll I know for a fact I'm getting better mpg; how much it might be scary. I'm still in the "ooo kool what does this do now" stage of the WAMS tune since the car has way more power and responsiveness. Getting used to the way the tranny shifts is also interesting but she re-learning the shift points slowly but surely and no longer feels weird so that's good but she is definitely getting much better mpg.

Today for instance I've driven to Moonachie NJ, from Poughkeepsie at a modest 80 mph on the highway and I've just returned to Middletown all in all roughly 155 miles and my gas gauge has only move to the 1st white line past F. Normally it's at the half tank mark by now. now I've been loving the HP so I'm not babying the pedal. so I'd be curious what the mpg are when I set it to 70 and put the baby on cruise..... Might do 68 and see too; she diffidently working less and more efficient that's for sure.....

Correct me if im misunderstanding but are you saying you only used an 1/8tank and it normally takes 1/2 tank to do that trip? Thats a pretty big increase.
