The torque curve on the 3.9 is a little flatter than the 3.6, but the 3.6 does have higher peak torque and HP, so they should be *SLIGHTLY* faster, in theory.

i agree that the early 3.5's got it, and looks like the '08 gxp's will get the shaft too if they put the acadia engine in it for '09, but i dont think the 3.9's got screwed cause its a great engine.
I don't mean screwed in that it's a bad engine, I mean screwed in that short lifespan = poor aftermarket support.

The difference is blink-of-an-eye, really. Not really worth worrying about.

But you know people will always want to have the highest power possible even if it's only for the sake of bragging rights. People will whine about a few horsepower on paper even if it makes little difference in real life. We might laugh at ricers but most of us have the same mentality on this issue.

I can live with improvements with each new model year but how many powertrain combinations and trim levels are really necessary for just one car. The G6 is an engine whore and GM needs to clean up its act and stop potentially irritating its customers.

yea at one time i think they had something like 4 or 5 engines at one time just for the g6 series.

at the beginning of the model year they also still had the 3.9 as gt "performance"package.

ah i see, agreed. and i cant even swap parts from an acadia or anything. i think the only other cars using (or that used) the 3.9 is the impala and maybe the aura? i dunno but its one of the shorter lifespans ive seen on an engine. my last car was a 99 jeep wrangler so i had an engine that was in use for like 30 years or something.

The 3.6 auto should be a little faster than the 3.9 auto since the 07 has the 6 speed, which will increase its acceleration. I ran a 15.3 stock w/ my 3.9 auto (yeah I'm sure I could get better times but whatever)...and I saw an 3.6 auto run about a 15.0....sounds about right

Now that the 3.5L V6 had been replaced that means there are 5 different engines available for the G6 at one time or another. Add the different transmission combinations and it becomes a total nightmare. All this for a car that only been on the market for 3 years.

And the F40 had a revision in that time period as well, plus the GT sport's F40 was geared differently
