Idk. My girlfriend has it and she got her insurance premium down a lot. Unless you drive at the track or do stunts, you will probably get something taken off. They can't raise your price based on the results.

How? It only records the data. The reports of damage from the device have no basis and are purely circumstantial, such as saying "I put the Snapshot in and then 3 days later my HVAC blower stopped working. It must be this dang thing." The only negative that Progressive states is that it slowly drains the battery so it recommended to turn your car on once a month to let the alternator charge the battery.

              Re: Anybody use Prgressive's Snapshot?

like i said above, i had one in my 6 for only a day and a half, after that i had 3 different codes come up on my dash...one for stabilitrack, on for t/c and the security code. took it to the dealer cause at the time i had no idea what was wrong and they reset everything cause they found no issues otherwise and sent me along my way. 3 hours or so later, same thing happened only this time my transmission was shifting incorrectly as well. took it back to the dealer and they said the only thing they could come up with is a broken wire or bad battery wich i knew a broken wire couldnt be. i did though have a bad battery and had to get a new one but it didnt solve the problem. that same day i decided it was worth a shot and took the progressive device out. after the car being off for awhile, on my next trip everything was back to normal. this was over a month ago and still no issues at all. im not saying this happens in all cars but it happened in mine and i even found an online article about a lawfirm building a case against progressive because of the damage it has done to others people car ecms and batteries. after my situation i was issued a check for the full amount of what my new battery cost. i even started a thread about this situation awhile ago.....

but like i said it may not be the same with all cars but it didnt like mine.

As I said these are things that i have HEARD. Didn't say that I had it and wouldn't recommend it nor have I done any research into it since I don't have progressive.

i used it and hated it, i wasn't able to save shit after the first month and returned it. i left progressive 6 months later, i change providers every 6 months. doing this allows me to save tons of money. TONS

This thing bothers me. Does it take averages on your driving cause what happens if I have to do a move that looks "un-safe" to the giro and GPS but it saves my life? Does my insurance go up for staying alive?

Next thing is you have to trust Progressive to know each and every car's ECM and other avenues to get info and electricity which obviously coming from some statements, I wouldn't.

Just something about this coming from the insurance company just screams no to me.

The program cannot raise your rates or current premium. It is a potential discount. It accesses the information from the OBD-II protocol which is universal across all models since 1996. Why do you think a single OBD-II scanner can read from any post-1995 car?

From what I read, if you dont drive at all and when you do dont brake hardly at all your insurance will go down alot. I dont have progressive but the idea just sounds creepy. We neeed another thing in our lifes tracking are every move?
