ok so first off i am sorry kinda new here and still figuring it all out but so far i love this site!
here are the issues i am having...
i had to get a new key fob as mine i got w/the car broke. i took the car to the dealer to have it programmed. after leaving the lot, 3 lights or codes came on the car.. stabila track, traction control and anti theft. i took the car right back and they said upon programming the remote the battery drained so they thought this caused the issue and just went back and reset the codes. after this it worked fine until the next day i was driving and the same 3 lights came on also making the car chug a little bit and it even made my remote start not work like it should only running for a very short time and shutting off. the car after a few seconds drove fine again and when i stopped, shut off the car and opened the dor the codes went away. this continued on for a few sdays, even once cause the car to shift funny. so i took the car back to the dealer and they said they couldnt find anything and they called the gm hotline. the hotline people said it had nothing to do with them programming my remote and that it it could be a broken wire which i find hard to believe. after leaving the dealer today my car acted up again with the lights coming on after leaving a red light and it even took longer than normal to shift from 1st to second . i had the battery checked and it was in fact bad so i just went ahead and replaced this myself. the mechanic said it could be part of my issue.
so does anyone have any sort of ideas on what the root of this issue could be?? i just find it odd that it did not happen until after the car was at the dealer to have the key fob programmed.
on a side note i do have a progressive issued snapshot device that i use in hopes of making my insurance alittle cheaper. i hope that something like that wouldnt cause any problems but if anyone thinks it could i will take it off right away.

again i am new and soory for the long post but i am so confused here and just need a little friendly help.
    thank you fellow 6ers

first off welcome to the site! It almost sounds like a wire shorting out and as for taking it to the dealer at the same time I think it's just coincidence. I would first recommend checking your fuses to make sure they're seated correctly and then go from there.

its possible the battery was going bad and when the dealer programed and the battery went dead and that was the end of that battery. from there it could have been getting weaker adn weaker. that what i would say if you want to blame the dealer. otherwise i would say just a coincedince

Remember if "the" and "and" are spelled right its not a genuine Ahuhn post

well yeah, i replaced the battery today with a brand new one from advanced auto parts and the car was fine all day after that until tonight about two blocks from home the same 3 warning lights came on, the gauge needles all fluttered and the car chugged for a few seconds. it is the weirdest thing but tomorrow when there is more light i'll have to check the fuse thing. should i check all of them inside and outside the car or just under the hood?
problems like these are so frustrating to me and i dont want it to do any damage to the car, it has 101,500 mi. on it and all i ever have to do is change her oil and tires(knocking on wood)

Not sure which one it is but I think that the tc and stabilitrack is all on the same fuse.

Its either a bad connection somewhere or a wiring issue of sort. Its not a fuse because if the fuse blew it wouldn't just keep resetting itself. The codes need to be scanned to see what the description is. That will better help you look for the issue.

just wanted to add that this only happens about once a day at random times. and only while driving, never a problem when starting the car.

That's why I am thinking its a connection of some sort. Maybe the connection at the ecm?

i'll look into that..the dealer wanted to charge me 85 dollars and hour to find a broken wire and im sorry but im not gonna pay that much considering how long something like that would take. has to be an easier approach.

came across this online and found it kind of interesting as i had a snap shot in my car for awhile but i took it out......

Progressive’s Snapshot Device May Cause Battery Drainage and Electrical Problems
Posted on November 17, 2011 by Paris
Progressive Insurance Company’s new “Snapshot” device, which attaches to one’s vehicle, supposedly records data about an insured’s driving habits. Progressive advertises Snapshot as an exclusive program that allows its customers to get a personalized car insurance rate based on how a person drives. Progressive claims that the Snapshot device allows its customers to tell their driving story so that Progressive can provide a more accurate insurance quote or rate using the latest technology. The Snapshot device records vehicle speed and time of day. Other information, such as miles driven and rates of acceleration and braking, is derived from the speed and time information recorded by the device. There have been reports, however, that Snapshot causes electrical problems and drains a vehicle’s battery in its entirety. These reports have also included new cars containing new car batteries.

I'm pretty sure there is nothing wrong with the battery... your car wouldn't be starting fine if it was completely drained.

I'm sorry to say this but if you don't have the know how to test all the connections really your only option is to pay the dealer the $85/hour... now i would try and fight it and say that this all happened after they touched the car and it was fine before that so they should take responsibility but we call it a stealership for a reason....

just wanted to let everyone know that i took my snap shot device issued from progressive insurance out of my car 3 days ago and since then have had no issues!! i believe now that it was this stupid thind causing problems. incase you don't know its a small decice that plugs into your multi port and is supposed to "monitor" your driving habbits and can make your insurance cheaper in some ways. i was just trying to save a penny but a warning to anyone considering one of these or who knows someone that has one, they are junk and can mess up your car. i know this first hand now.
