Re: Silver Trim pieces painted! ( PICS UP)

ive been following this thread and here are my questions.

i plan on doing mine black this weekend

so the driver side door is take the to bolts off underneath the little black pad thing and then it should pop off? and how do you get the passenger side and the back seat doors also?

and i clicked on the link to the HOW TO but it took me to tearing your dash up. i would like to know how do get to the shifter. maybe there is a how to for that could someone point me in the right direction.

and also if there are anything else i need to know or people think are easy cool things to paint lemme know!

also im about to paint that chrome grill i have black! yay!

Drivers side....yes...just removed the bolts and she pops off.....all other doors just pop off with minimal effort. As far as the console(shifter plate) is concerned, the HOW-TO link that you clicked WILL tell you how it is removed as you do need to open your dash to gain access to a few hidden screws... just read it through and you will see...

Yes I did, I used some stuff called stone paint. First I two toned with the black and gray, then used the stone paint over it. Came out really good..imo.

Have u put it back together yet?.... the holes for the window switches are pretty tight to start with and I wondered if you had run into an issue with them not fitting right once painted.... especially with that stone stuff.....

I thought that too, until I actually did it and it was no trouble re-installing anything.

So have at it... and dont forget to take pics

Looks awesome! I need to do that with mine, because the platic on mine is peeling off and looks tacky. How did you get them all off. Have you tried taking off the two parts off the steering wheel. They are peeling on mine as well.

I like the interior accents but a rattle can job just cheapens the look. I think if your going to do it let a pro do it. Pay a couple bucks and have a nice smooth glossy finish.

^wet sanding equals a nice glossy finish even with rattle can-it all depends on the amount of work you put into it.

AND just because you spray with a gun doesn't mean you won't have orange peel. My buddy paints on a regular basis and has painted many parts for the goat. Some come out flawless and some so orange peeled it makes me cry......

thats what cutting and buffing is for
