  • G6 Gxp Coupe Vs Hyundia Genesis Coupe V6

Has anyone ever heard of a g6 gxp beating a Hyundia Genesis Coupe V6 Track Pack?

So the ? was sparked this evening when I was at the gas station filling up and a genesis pull to the pump next to me. Of course my curiosity kick in and I asked the gentelman who was in his early 60s. Is that car as fast as they say and we proseeded to talk and we got on the subject of the g6. Told me he loves the g6 his son has one. A GXP coupe the one with the hammerhead wing and ram air hood. But the weird think was that he said every time they go up on Inter state 80 (I live in PA) that his son pulls away from him with ease. Now I check the specs of both cars and it doesn't add up the g6 has about 50 less Hp and weighs 100 lbs more. The only think I can think of is gearing. If any one has any input let me know this is really tweeking my brain.

A genesis 3.8L track pack will walk from the 3.6 and 3.9L GTP/GXPs. Genesis coupe is 100 lbs less 50 more HP, 15 more torque and a 3.73 gear ratio on a 6spd auto. The G6 has a 2.73 gear ratio on a 6spd for fuel economy. Plus the Gen coupe is RWD and will get better traction then a FWD car also. Now some of our modded 3.6Ls should be even with a 3.8L doing a 1/4 mile in a 14.2 that what the Gen coupe does. The 3900 GTPs with the aged 4spd trannys and only 240 HP isnt up to the task with bolt ons, need real work or forced introduction to do anything against a 3.8L coupe.

no way can a stock one keep up. guess grandpa cant drive
i think the genesis atracts older people because i have seen very old men driving loaded genesis coupes with the track pack

I'd believe it... 3.6 is a good engine, don't know much about the hyundai, but I can tell you just because something is rated soemthing, doesn't mean it is it(RX8? 99 Cobra?) Next, numbers are important, but so is the shape of that dyno curb. Drove an SRX with that 3.0 v6, that is rated like 240 or 260hp, and it was god awful. It was gutless unless you were in like 500 rpm in the waaay upper rpm band. Felt like a 4 cylinder.

Its not all about peak power, its how the power curve is and how that power curve gets to the ground. Hence 12 second 1000 hp supras.

Drag race a genesis woudl likely win, especially with the torque management these g6s have, and also drag racing FWD is retarded.

From a roll these cars have some guts, at least mine does. The genesis is a much more sports car envisioned design then the G6, but hands down I feel the 3.6 is a better engineered engine.

Re: G6 Gxp Coupe Vs Hyundia Genesis Coupe V6

Lot's of thing's need to be considered here. First off Kelly show's the Genesis at 3900 lbs, 290 hp. Has 3.91 rear gear's, but don't know the transmission. The GXP tranny has a pretty wild 4.50 first gear, so with the 2.77 final = 12.47. Also, aerodynamic drag at higher speed's is the biggest thing, plus figure a few percent more driveline loss of the rear drive set up. My brother has a Cadillac CTS with the 305 hp DI 3.6. 3900 lbs rear drive 4.05 1st gear 3.42 axle = 13.85. I basically nudge him a bit off the line, then a dead heat to about 80(fast as we went). Mine's a coupe so probably an aero advantage. Wish I had that DI engine, though.

I also think its true because i was racing a honda accord v6 the new ones with my gt and i beat it with my 220 hp compared to his 290 hp so there has to be something im thinking that foreign companies are over rating thier cars

I have raced my friend's 2000 Accord V6 with my base G6 V6 and he beat me every single time. We are both stock.
I wouldn't dare go against a new Accord V6 but I will have to find out one of these days.
