    Re: Cabin air filter

I almost didn't buy the G6 just because it doesn't have a cabin air filter. It's one of my most wanted feature in a car. Even Hyundai has it on their Sonata.

What makes it so desirable that it would almost make you not buy a car?

What's so special about the filter? I can't even tell when a car has one.

            Re: Cabin air filter

I dunno... seems like a common problem nowadays. They just keep adding stuff to cars, even if its kind of useless/drives up the cost. To the point we think we need them or we will suffer.

            My thoughts on a car...
            ABS
            airbags
            power windows/locks/trunk with remote
            tilt wheel/telescope
            cruise control
            AC
            Power steering

            Do we really need?
            -Cabin air filter? LOL
-power mirrors? (how often do you change them, I change mine for those times I accidntly bump the controls and move them)
-TCS, I don't drive in snow but plenty of rain, more then most. You don't need it, if you do you are driving in the conditions wrong, correct that.
            -power pedals? come one....
-steering radio controls? can't lean over the 1 foot to change them?

I am sure there is more. Just seems like "gimicky stuff" to drive up costs, maintenance, and just have more crap to break in a car.

So did anyone figure out if you can add one of these ? My wife's car's air stinks every time we turn it on and i can't figure out why. I just assumed it had a filter. Its a 2008 FWIW Base Model 4 banger. IF anyone has a writeup on this i would greatly appreciate you sending it to me.

                    filter wouldnt help that

i believe you can get your car fixed to shut off the openings of air when shut off, which is what allows the air to stink

                    smartgtp did this no?

I had a cabin filter in my 2000 Venture - stupid expensive to replace - I'm glad there's not one in the G6.

my wife's equinox has one. it was only like 15 bucks I think to replace, but I broke like 3 or 4 of those stupid plastic push pins replacing it.

hers is right next to the wipers.

                          Re: Cabin air filter

You can make one, just have to be creative. The area that the air comes from, is the area where the wiper arms are located, under the black plastic cover at the base of the windshield. In order to keep all pollutants out, the material needs to have a charcoal base, in order to filter out the smallest particles. If you suffer from allergies, this is a serious issue.

That is clearly a mistake on their part.

The 6 does *not* have an air filter in the cabin.
