  • 3.5L vs. 3.5L VVT

    Hello!

    OK, so here's my first question since joining...hopefully I haven't duplicated this question, but I probably have!

    What is the difference between a 3.5L and 3.5L VVT? What are the advantages/disadvantages of each (if you can call it that)?

    Thanks!

    The 2007+ 3500vvt (LZ4) has variable valve timing which gives it 24bhp. But it doesn't have as good of fuel economy as the 2005-2006 3500 (LX9)

      VVT=More horsepower at higher revs

      And, oh yeah and enjoy your stay

            Same torque tho, do u think that was maybe to keep down the torque steer?

              I do think the LZ4 has more torque management.

                Thanks for the replies.

                So torque is the same, but HP changes. I have the 219 HP, so I guess that's the 3.5L? Interesting that there are all these variations in engine, even within the same size (in addition to the traditional 4-cylinder, V6 3.5 & 3.9).

                  If you have an 09 than you have the LZ4 3500vvt. The '08s and up have a third cat.
