now wen painting it....should i clear coat it or not...prime or just sand?

sand lightly. wipe it down with something to clean it off. base coat. clear coat.. 2 if you want

^ Do this. Although I did one on clear coat and one not with clear coat and I think the one without the clear coat matches the door plastic better so I would say do it like this:

- 2 light coats of black
- 1 heavy coat of black

And then see if you like how it looks. If you think clear would be better I would go:

- 1 light clear
- 1 heavy

I don't know just try it out and see what you like best. I should be able to get you a comparison pic with clear and without it if you want.

I just use black electrical tape instead of painting it. No problems so far.

I'd like to personally thank the gentleman that started this thread, seriously!!!!
I pulled both of my mouldings off the old totaled G6 and swapped them onto the new G6.

Notice there is no chrome on the moulding?

what about the little strip all the way at the back? i removed megans chrome strips and painted them but the rear doors have a small chrome strip still there that is attached by the weather stripping at the top of the door....

anyone know?

I couldnt get that part off, so I just painted it while it was on the car

Others covered the car with something except for a hole in the something and taped the something down only showing said piece
