So what I was trying to show you was these: Push-Loc fittings:
With these fittings you use a type of rubber hose that doesn't have the steel braiding on the outside.
You can see it's a thick braided rubber hose. You can connect one end to the push lock fitting to the aluminum hard line, and the other end to your clamp-on cooler.
My coolers both have had absolutely no signs of leaks, my only problem area was the tap in point. But it's up to you if you want to run with this method.
