    Re: Installed a Transmission Cooler!

So what I was trying to show you was these: Push-Loc fittings:

With these fittings you use a type of rubber hose that doesn't have the steel braiding on the outside.

You can see it's a thick braided rubber hose. You can connect one end to the push lock fitting to the aluminum hard line, and the other end to your clamp-on cooler.
My coolers both have had absolutely no signs of leaks, my only problem area was the tap in point. But it's up to you if you want to run with this method.

I like the previous method a lot. I'll have to by new lines to have on stand by when i wanna go to the dealer to get a flush but it's a good method once you understand how it works. the dealer told me they wouldnt do flushes or work on my trans with that installed for liability reasons. what a bummer.

.... but the crazy part of being told that was that the tech who does radiator work told me that it would be good for the car to install it .... no comment

        Re: Installed a Transmission Cooler!

He said it would be good or would not be good? I see no real cons unless its done wrong or you use the wrong cooler or something.

And which method? The steel braided lines? I want to do that too, both for looks and for a permanent install

Also I'm pretty sure deathmage got a flush at a dealer. Try calling around maybe?

May seem like a noobish question, but would this help for a automatic without tapshift??

Don't know what dealership your going too but I did my tranny cooler and told my dealership I installed a tranny cooler and they flushed it. They said it looked very nicely done and saw no problems. My dealership may-be a bit more lenient since I go there often for PM and they know I take really good care of the car....

Hey we all gotta start somewhere right?
Trans coolers are primarily for automatic transmissions (tap shift doesn't matter) since the fluid in an auto trans does a lot more than just lubricate everything its always being pumped around so cooling it helps tremendously.
Manual transmissions just use gear oil, and it isn't pumped around so there isn't a way to install a cooler. Just an fyi
But tap shit or no tap shift it should improve your transmission as well!

it was bunnin chevrolet. they are just scared I'll blame them for a leak, but now that I know what I am doing and have full understanding of this an fitting methot, I'm gonna get a flush buy the parts and install it all myself. after seeing the vids you showed me it looks incredibly easy to do.
