  • 2.4 intake idea?

so i took the hose off the hot air box and just left it there and ran the car for a bit and it seemed fine, wouldnt a cai be the same thing.....so should i try it and see? maybe i could be lucky?

So basically it's running without a filter? No bueno.

A CAI should have a filter, heat shield, and aluminum piping.

Yeah it'll work just fine. Instead of oil, you can run distilled water too for weight reduction.

I'm kidding. Your idea and my suggestion were both terrible.

you're still running a stock tube which has less flow then a cold air intake. but if you want to just stick a filter on that tube which will do nothing more than raise your IAT's, be my guest.

basiclly my question is, is it possible to run a cai (full setup) without a retune? because like i said AS A TEST i did it without a filter....

I wouldn't get a tune for just a CAI. If you want to get more, get the WAMS tune so you atleast get your moneys worth.

I spent $300 for a local tune for my CAI and felt no difference. I actually felt like I got ripped now that I think about it. I wished I got WAMS instead.

A tune from a shop would be $300 about.

If it is a lease, why mess with it. I realize you probably wanna make it quicker or whatever, but the 2.4 doesnt have much at all to do to it. There are a but load of people here who have tried CAIs and failed. So the all went to stock. If you want it to work it is gonna be $400 min. $100 for the intake and $300 to tune. $300 is standard for a tune. Gotta pay to play. And with it being a lease why waste the money. Save it so you can buy your next car and do whatever you want to it.

Well if you have a 2006 3.5L like your info suggests you DID get scammed, we are the only company that can tune the P05 PCM in the 05/06 3.5L If you have any doubt ship it to me and I'll verify but I'm 99.99999% sure you got big time screwed

Yea I probably did. Considering that I'm 18 they probably took advantage and I hear stories about it all the time. It's not like I can go back and demand my money back since tunes are no refund, but I can give that place a bad rep. I wish I had gotten the WAMS tune now, but that is later on my list.
