Without a cat, res, and muff like snowmanG6 said... then it will do to more of "ping" effect. The "loudness" generally depends on the muffler and/or resonator. Exhaust pipe sizing is more about flow. If it helps, I have 2.5" piping on my Focus and it's not too loud or rice-ish do the Borla res and muff it came with .

K&N filter, modified stock air box and MAF, and custom intake piping (done, but needs more perfecting). Working on custom engine damper and mount (stock mount on engine is plastic and flex's terribly). Also about to port a TB. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Me: 06 Focus ST 2.3L
Balance shaft delete, Cosworth CAI, FRPP (Borla) catback, poly dog-bone trans mount bushings, 89oct SCT tune
Had a Cosworth header and 93oct tune at one point.
yea im going to keep my cat because of backpressure issues and im thinking about switching up mufflers/res. but its not exactly cheap to get new ones and get them installed lol... but i was thinking about a flowmaster and some type of glass pack
By the time your done you shoulda just did THIS ....? Then save up to change the muff to a Borla FTW!!! LOL

At least your GM ground effects have the daul out valance. Mine's got the single and I bought two borla xs pro mufflers with tips before knowing that the rear valance, that was getting shipped to my house, was single. I can get the one of the borlas installed but I'm not sure what to do with the other. I was going to cut a hole to near match the left one so I can do the dual exhaust but then the cut would look like ass.

there kind of hard to find, the dual valance gm kit that is. and if you cut it out and sand it and round the edges I really don't think it would look bad, plus with it being on the bottm of your car and being black I honestly don't think anyone would notice its cut out unless they kneeled down and looked at it up close. and you should put up a sound clip of that borla and if it sounds good you should give the other one to me =)
GMParts direct is out of the dual valance so dont try them had to wait like week to get my money back. the following link is where I bought mine came pretty quick and about the same price
I already made the cut today using a dremel and whole lot of patience. I thought the cut would look bad but it came out pretty clean. I may have to do a few more touch ups on it.

told you it wouldn't look bad just take a rounded sanding tip on the dremel and round those edges and youll be golden
Finally got my dual exhaust setup done. It was worth the wait. A small auto shop who specializes in servicing and modding imported cars did the work. I have to admit the looks, the sound and the worksmanship of the exhaust work is amazing. I'll post pics of this on my progression page later.

I've looked through this thread and unless i'm missing it has anybody actually used the magnaflow catback system for the G6? If so have they recorded a vid of it so i can hear what it sounds like. I"m having a hard time finding a shop around me taht will do a custom exhaust so i figured i'd go with a premade system and maybe change out the muffler at some point with a dual outlet of similar size.
EDIT: and yes if i do get the magnaflow i'll at least find somewhere to go that will weld it up for me minimum, i don't want that leakage.
