I know am a little late looking at this thread lol, but its ok theres not alot of suport, there is alot out there to do still to cars to mod them and make them fast. I had an 86 t-bird with speed density 3.8L V6, EVERYONE told me there is NO suport for the first CFI/TBI 3.8L with speed density set up. The car stock did 0-60 in 12.9 sec and a 19.3 1/4 mile. After a year talking to people and making my own stuff up with still a non modified speed densitiy computer and also where I learned all my auto mechanics from I had the car pull a 16.1 and passed emitions and inspection. Not fast but impressive for NO after market suport. Long story short there is ALWAYS thing you can do in the performance market just have too look hard at tech books, do your homework and spend time e-mailing people and talking to people on the phone to see what is compatable or how to make it compatable. There is ALWAYS a company out there to help make your own custom parts, you just have to find them. :smoke:

I am also into this band of not wanting to spend money. I have a heavily modded wrangler and driving to and from school it just wasnt cutting it. I needed a second vehicle to be dependable and better on gas. Hence getting my 06 GTP but I have this problem that I can't leave stuff stock and I like tinkering with stuff. I don't want to break the bank but I want to have something personalized to me. This bug really sucks and the bad part is there is no cure. AAAAAHHHHHH

If I can't obtain a turbo for this car by next Spring, I will be looking to trade in the G6 for a GTO. I need more horses.

WOW! how did I miss this thread? I too am late to the party?>!

Anyway, I think people are jumping the gun with complaining about the lack of performance parts for the 6. The g6 has been on the market for what 4 years now? We already have a cold air intake, an exhaust system, and two different tunes you can buy for the motor. Not to mention the gm and razzi bodykits. Not too shabby for just 4 years on the market. I know everybody likes to compare it to the civic and accord. You got to remember though, they have been on the market for what 15+ years now? The whole tuning craze for the civic/accord started in japan and moved east to the states. So when people over here wanted to start tuning their civics and accords, there was already a established group of companies offering parts.

I understand that GM dropped the ball on a few things, and there has been quite a few changes to the model lineup in just 4 years. As for motors you got the 05/06 3.5v6, ecotec 4cycl, 3.9v6, 07 3.5v6, and the 3.6 v6. Plus you got the base 4spd auto, the gt/gtp 4spd auto, the 6mt, and the new 6spd auto. Thats a lot of tranny/engine combos to make parts for.

I see a lot of g6's wherever I travel and I would imagine that gm has sold quite a few of them. I don't see why it isn't possible to continue the g6 run for quite a few years, much like they did with the grand am.

I think that as time goes on your going to see more parts become availible and more people wanting to modd their g6. I mean look at just how many people on this forum have modified their 6 compared with 2 years ago.

I look at it like this, were the beginning of what is to come, the very first pioneers of modding the 6.

Beh. I'm never going down to a Cobalt / G5 level car again. I had my Sunfire and hated it cause it was so cramped and the interior rattled so much. When I got my 6 it was a dream come true. Even if they got more HP, the 6's got style

I'll be happy naturally aspired, but should a Super / Turbo kit for our car comes out to pump up the HP before I get my 2010/2011 Trans Am (Crosses fingers Pontiac will do it), i will get it to give the 6 some more balls to add to it's style.

I heard that gm plans to do something with the cobalt ss, either bring back the SC which was killed off due to the 07 emissions, or to do the turbo from the solstice gxp. I think that the turbo is more likely given that chevy just came out with the hhr ss model which uses the 260hp turbo from the solstice gxp. Which makes me wonder if the ecotoc 4cycl g6 might be the one to tune. Figure 260hp from the 4cyl vs the 252hp from the 3.6v6. Not to mention that the 4cycl would wiegh less.

It would be downrated a lot I would guess due to the 6's heavy ass. The Cobalt's well under 1.5 tons I would guess,, where we're close to 1.75+...

i would love to see anything power-wise for the 4 banger. This is my first and only car and appearance wise its amazing, but the performance is something to be desired. the aftermarket just seems to not want anything to do with our cars......goddam cobalts taking all the good parts.....

The G6 and it's predecessor have been on the market for over 30 years now.

The only reason that there isn't an aftermarket for the G6 is that not enough people want parts for them. It's an undisputable fact.

The only hope that G6 owners have for the near future is that DoctorSpeed will get his crap together and finish the turbo for the 3900.

I plan on getting rid of my G6 when the lease is up. It's starting to mimick my Grand Am on the reliability scale. I'm going to try and pick up a used Trans Am or Camaro Z28/SS next summer to get my speed fix.
