What could be wrong. My front door speakers have no sound coming from them, but the front door tweeters and rear speakers work fine. What could be the issue. I have a factory 6 disk player, but I don't know if its monsoon. Help please.

    Re: Front Speakers Not Working

soooooo just putting my 2 cents in here if you have a 2.4 then you don't have monsoon unless your g6 was a custom order from factor by it's original owner. that being said, go in your trunk on your right hand side unscrew the molding and peel it back starting from the tail light. if you have monseen your amp will say monsoon on it. assuming the 2.4s have amps at all wiggle the harness that connects to your radio. it should be the last one on the left. the other two are onstar and xm radio. anyways if you wiggle it and play with the harness and your sound still doesnt come back on then you need to see a dealer or stereo shop LOL

i might post picks of mine...i have a problem where my harness is not acting right anymore and is defective

Probably just a loose connection at the speaker or blown speakers.

how do you replace these speakers? - this is probably a retarded question, but is there a How-to? - I'd like to replace my two front door speakers with something a bit higher in quality, I think they are getting a little worn out. (a bit crackly at the high settings now after 3 years)

          Re: Front Speakers Not Working

It's pretty simple. You remove the door panels, undo the screw above the speaker, remove the speaker and disconnect the wires. I believe you can get mounting adapters and wire adapters from crutchfield or wherever, so if you get them, them to install the new ones you just screw the speakers into the adapters, solder the wire adapters to the speakers, plug in the wiring, mount the speaker and reinstall the door panel. If you are doing component speakers, the the wiring adapter would get soldered to the crossover, you'd have to run wiring to the woofer and the tweeter (which would be mounted in the sail panel). Components aren't much more complicated.

any special wiring or soldering? - simply plug and play?

If you get these they would be plug n play. However, do you have the monsoon system? If you do I dont think those will work. And if you get those speakers, the sound output will be cut in half since the stock speakers are 2ohm and those aftermarket ones are 4 ohm.

Any aftermarket speakers are better than oem. You probably don't want to hear this, but imo, either replace them with oem speakers, or rip the entire stereo out and go aftermarket. IMO the monsoon system is not worth the hassle.

Well I'm basically done with the performance aspect of my car, so getting a new sound system isn't out of the realm of possibilities.

Mine did this last year. I had a ground wire that almost completely wiggled its way out. It was in the trunk to the left peel back the carpet that's where my loose ground was.
Mods:Wams lx9 tune, gtp rear valance, custom Flowtech catback, volant cai and box, raceline stb, CM lowering springs, pioneer touch screen stereo, black vinyle arrow head overlays, Pontiac rear window decal and finally g6performance decals.

Not much left without dumping a few grand so I guess ill be redoing the stock sound system with polk audio everything.
