Re: How 2: Instrument Panel LED MOD

I want all the things I circled in red and the needles to be red. Is that possible? Did you just use white leds for the white? also, Is it possible to get brighter ones?

yes its possible, less work actually. all you'd have to do is change the LED's that light the numbers to white.

Re: How 2: Instrument Panel LED MOD

When you opened the cluster, does the word G6 let light through or is it just printed?

I'd love to make the G6 light up.

          Hey black07g6gtp

I made a reference, on the main how to page. But here it is again, all you would need to do is change the LEDS that I circled in white. To accomplish what you want done. Like Bigs said its actually alot less work, because you don't have to change the ones I circled in blue. And when looking for brightness of LEDs look for a higher number MCD. But make sure you keep the power specs the same I will post the power specs if you need them too. Stick to the 1206 SMD type LED's. They are easily found on Ebay.

And Toni mine does not light up it is just printed sorry bro.

That cluster looks really nice. If you can figure out the radio and the rest of the red stuff I may dive into this sometime. I have a blue Passport 8500 and i'd love for it all to match up.

Of course. Why wouldnt they dim properly? Your not altering the variable resistor controling the Interior lights.

I don't think I am allowed to post ebay links yet I still don't have 100 posts. But here is the Technical terms of what to look for in a 1206 Led, and remember MCD stands for millicandlen which is pretty much the brightness of the individual led.

Also look in some cell phone parts shops, electronic shops. It's pretty much the same LEDs used back then to modify phones so they have Blue/white LEDs.

So... It's been a while since I first made this thread. I wonder if anyone else has done this?
Or am I still the only one? I really thought this would be more popular.

I would because I'm a LED change whore when it comes to everything I have, but it's always to change it to red. So no mod necessary. Yours does look really sharp though.
