wasn't expecting to win engineer of the year with my story, but here is a link to how my STB looks
If it works for you then it's good to go. I would keep it black as to not make it stand out.

Sorry folks. I was supposed to go yesterday but his daughter had a make up soccer game so no go. Trying to reschedule ASAP to get this bar bent and on the car!

I just put my STB on this week and taped where you guys said it was rubbing.

fireguy82 did you leave the STB bolted down when you took A block of wood and a 3lb. hammer to it. also did it mess up the look of the STB at all or take off any of the black coat of paint.

No I took it off. The block of wood helped with saving the paint. I had to re-do the paint anyway because of the rubbing.

If you are worried about it i think someone on here stepped (and bounced) on it. If you have some ass behind you it will proly work.

Yeah the pad it still there. You could say I left it there just in case. Really I am just too lazy to peel it offand clean the area of the adhesive.

tomorrow im going to put short rubber stoppers in the 2 holes where the stb is rubbing at. This will hold it off the bar and not rub the hood. my friend was picking them up at ACE for me tonight. so hopefully this will work and look good.

This will be the mod to my bar I put on this weekend. I thought John would have his modification to the bar in this thread since it was made a Sticky.

                              Rubber stoppers

Are those rubber stoppers working for you guys who put them in? How did you attach them to the hood?

I was also wondering if anyone else would like to give an update on their rubbing countermeasures. I'd like to get this part, because I DO plan on taking it to the road course every once in a while, and I bet it's noticeable there.

Over 1,000 miles since I installed the STB with no signs of any rubbing. I can't say for sure if it's the difference with the MPD hood or the "mod" I did -- or both.
