shake in front end at highway speeds

This only happens when i'm doing over 65 on the highway. At slower speeds i don't notice it. When i press on the brake, even lightly, i get a pretty nasty shake in the front end i can feel in the steering. I haven't been to hard on the brakes so i don't think the rotors are warped. that, and if they were, i don't understand why it doesn't vibrate at low speed, either.

anyone got any ideas what this could be? if it is rotors, they aren't covered under the 36/36,000 are they?

Warped rotors. It is a very ( and i mean very) common issue with the rotors on the 6ers. Get them recut or replaced. Shaking will be gone.

check with you dealer. I was having same issues on expressway. Took mine to my good ol' boys dealership and they are taking care of the issue. Now if I took it to the dealership where the yuppies reside, I seriously doubt they would resurface under warranty.

if you have a constant shaking at higher speeds your tires could be out of balence

or also a possibility teh warped rotors(yes they are warped) could be causing the vibration

and some dealers cover rotor cutting for the 3yr/36k others only for about12k call your dealer and see what they say about covering it

I get the same thing but only when braking from speeds past like, 50mph.

My first thought on reading your post was tires. Mine shook and made noise. Was this only happening while braking?

Mine are also warpped...... I need to go myself. Same issue mines only over 50-55 and lightly hit the breaks the car shakes/shimmes and can see in in the steering wheel. I have a tad under 16K in mine. It started at the high 14K miles

I get it when braking at about 100 mph....then it does it at any speed until I let em cool off :P

I actually just had this problem and i had my 6 at the dealer to have my sunroof looked at and while on a test drive they felt the vibration and resurfaced the rotors under the warranty, they changed the brake pads too but i paid for those

Ok...I am at 65000 KM here and it seems I am having the same problem it shakes and vibrate during high speed but my question is do I need to replace the pads as well or just the front rotors. I got quoted for 250 for rotors and pads on a local shop.
