  • Transmission not shifting

Ok, so im not sure where to start with this problem

    I've got a 2006 Pontiac G6 GTP with 150000 miles on it

Today Driving around town, normal driving, we would stop at a light and when i went to accelerate, it would accelerate fine through first gear, but then it would never shift into second. I tried putting the shifter into manual mode, and it didn't make any difference. Let off the gas and it would slow down, gas it and it would speed up, but not shift. Did it a couple times to redline and back to idle. and it would eventually shift into 2nd and then no problems going from 2-3-4. But then sometimes it'd be 1/2-3/4 a mile before it would shift into 2nd.

Its just everyone once in a while, for no rhyme or reason, it wont shift into 2nd.

Any suggestions before i take it into the shop would be great!

    Thanks

        Re: Transmission not shifting

In the owner's manual, on page 6-6 (See this .pdf manual: http://www.vadengmpp.com/owners-manu...Pontiac-G6.pdf) you can see in which conditions the transmission needs to be serviced. Because in normal driving conditions, the 4t65-E does not need a filter/fluid replace in all of its lifetime. And I doubt that a bad transmission fluid and/or a bad filter would prevent it from shifting to the second gear only. I know there was a thread a short while ago of a guy that had a similar problem if I recall good.
