  • 2006, G6 engine removal

I have a 2006 3.9 G6 coup manual trans and need to remove engine. Appears that distance between timing cover and frame/ wheel well is only about an inch. Can this engine be removed without the trans from the top? I do not have access to a lift so I really need to remove from the top and not the bottom if at all possible.
    Thank you in advance.

Probably possible on some technicality, but remove it from the bottom. Its just easier that way even without a lift.

If you have an engine hoist, use that to life the front of the car up off the engine/trans. I've seen pictures where someone used Jacks on the subframe and removed everything, then lowered it down onto dollies. Then used the hoist to lift the car up enough to slide it all out the side.

Never done it myself, and don't know how safe it is, so do your own research.
