  • G6 New Key, Won't Start & Clicking Noise

After cutting my new transponder key and following the programming steps, the DSL started blinking and there was a clicking noise coming from the instrument panel. After retrying the original key, the car would not start and the clicking noise continued. Now the no lights pop up on the dash and everything is dead. It seems that the battery is being drained. Does anybody know what the problem is and how it can be fixed?

I had a problem like this that would happen randomly, sometimes wouldnt work for a good 15 minutes, other times would start after the first failure. but then it got to the point where it wouldn't start at all. New battery and I haven't had the problem since. My clicking was coming from the fuse box in the trunk though, I think it was the fuel pump relay, I can't remember off the top of my head.

Now that I think about it, I also had a problem starting my car when I took my radio out one day. I had to run out and threw it back in real quick, not bolted in, and when I got to the gas station and tried to leave my car wouldn't start and there was clicking coming from the radio. Come to find out the plug in the back of the radio wasn't all the way in and wasn't allowing my car to start? Was kinda weird...

Thanks, that seemed to fix the problem. I was afraid it was something worse than the battery, security-related, since it happened right when I tried starting it with the new key.

I have this same problem as well !!!
Put the key in and turn to 1st or 2nd position (Not turning on the car itself), with ur foot on the brake pedal, shift out of park and shift back in, turn the key back to off and turn on. The car should start. Someone told me its the contact inside of the shifter, the car thinks its not in park when the shifter says it is. So moving the shifter so the contacts "talk" should correct the problem.

            Hope this helps
