  • CEL, P0174 & P01175 Please Help! thanks

I just recently traded my 08 G6 GT in for a 08 G6 GXP. I transferred my GT-R exhaust and my CRAB intake on to the GXP. After a few days my check engine light came on, I ran the diagnostics and pulled these two codes: P0174 a P1175. I check and cleaned the MAF sensor, also checked for leaks throughout my intake system (no leaks). And checked the gas cap as well. I also checked for leaks in my exhaust, I did find a small leak at one of my clamping points (connecting the strait pipe to the u shape pipe) I don’t think that what is causing the cell but I am taking it in to get fully welded. I disconnected my battery terminals for an hour and reinstalled them, turned on the car and no CEL papered. I drove to and from work with no problems. The next time I stared my car I had a CEL with the same codes again, but the CEL went away after 5 Minutes.

Sometimes I have a rough idle and it then will drop to what I think is normal idling operation. And when accelerating it seems sluggish at times but really not that noticeable. When I just had the GT-R installed and the t dealing with stock air box I had no problems. I know the CEL is telling me that my system is running lean; maybe I just got some bad gas

I am going to take it in and use my warranty, I just like to troubleshoot and see if I can make my own repairs first before I start dealing with the dealership.

    Anyone else have these problems?

Well thats contradiectory, running to lean and to rich?

Could be many things. MAF sensor might be bad, if you just oiled your filter you might have over oiled and damaged the MAF sensor, MIGHT have a bad 02 sensor. Also might have an intake manifold leak.

Yeah I thought that was kind weird too! Thanks for the advise. I forgot to put this in my thread, after I got the first CEL a day later I started the car and left it running 2 minutes later I seen my CEL start to flash and the followed by a steady CEL. I turned off the car an let it sit for 5 minutes turned it back on and no flash CEL it has not flashed since! I know damage will happen at this stage, I am going to have to take this is the the dealerhip.

Yes flashing CEL not good, your damaging the cats. Fuel is being dropped in and not buring weather its a bad coil, spark plug, something.

I was dealing with that error code(P1175, bank 2 running rich) for about a year, at first it was off and on. and then it just stayed on. Well, for me it was an fuel injector that was flowing to much fuel. It cause the to other spark plugs on that side to miss fire because the computer was leaning out that side of the engine to compensate for the excess fuel that injector was dumping.

I just wanted to let you know maybe it would help you find out what your problem is. Good luck, I tried everything to fix the error i was getting.

              /////////UPDATE\\\\\\\\\

My Cel problems have been FIXED! Here is an update on what was wrong...

Verified. Scanned coes: P1175 and P0174-Current codes for Lean Fuel concern. P2273, P0151 and P0300-History codes for Oxygen Sensor Failure ad misfires. Checked, one oxygen sensor does not read. as no signal. Checked, good power from ECM at this time. Found loose pin in ECM connector. Adjusted pin tension and added dielectric grease. Cleared codes and road tested, SES light stays off at this time. If light returns, may need new ECM or have wiring problems.

I promised an update, hope this well help someone else out! Thanks for all the previous posts.

The Problems never end!!!! NEW CEL4.

Check engine light is back on!

P0174 system to lean. & P2273 (O2 bank 2 sensor 2 signal stuck rich) going back to the dealership tomorrow to drop it off. I have noticed my exhaust smells really funny, it kinda smells like a bitter fuel smell. Im not sure why but it has been like this since the check engine light has been on. And it also seems that i have a continous small amount of exhaust pouring out even durring a nice normal day. I have no idea why this is going on but its really starting to piss me off

Sorry to hear of your continuing issues, as I have been there before and extremly nerve-racking.

What you smell is fuel, what happens when the PCM cant figure out the issues it goes into a fuel rich table to protect the engine. As if it runs lean damage can accure. Issue with running rich, 1st poor MPG with drop off in performance 2nd and biggest issue it damages the cat converters. Atleast you have 100K mile warrenty/5 years. Might want to ask the dealership also what are they going to do to address the long term damage from running too rich in the cats. As this isnt an issues that happened and drove 10 miles and is all fixed. Am assuming you have put several 100 to maybe a 1000 miles on with this issue.

CHECKED RESISTANCE FROM PCM CONNECTOR TO 02 SENSOR, OLL OK. PERFORMED WIGGLE TEST ON HARNESS DURRING RESSISTANCE TEST, NO SPIKES IN RESISTANCE. INSTALLED AND PROGRAMED NEW PCM. CLEARED CODES AND ROAD TESTED, SES LIGHT IS NOT ON AT THIS TIME. PCM REPLACEMENT IS COVERED UNDER GM 8/80 EMMISSIONS WARRANTY.

Odd, your the 2nd person that I can remember having a bad PCM. The other was also a 3.6L. Generally GM to my knowledge doesnt have much issues with there PCMs
