  • Adjusting Hand Brake/Parking Break

Hey i searched and couldn't find anything, on how to adjust this.

I recently had my interior taken out for around a week working on some led projects and adding some dinamat and forgot to even look for a bolt or anything

But i just replaced my break pads. (worn pretty pad) and still no luck with the parking break.

Ive seen in other cars its a simple bolt adjust on the actual lever. If its not to loose but has anyone done this?

If not ill just take the center console out and peer around but i think my car is getting pissed at me LOL

I'm pretty sure there is an adjustment right at the handle, I think I've never looked on the G6, but I know it's there on other GM products. There might also be an adjustment point under the car where the actual cable runs to the back.

    Look at the handle first.

Thats what i thought but it hasnt worked yet i noticed it stoped working months ago. Before i changed the pads. Ive pulled up like 30 plus times before it and after. It feels like its difficult to pull up but there is zero breaking going on. Not even a little. Thanks for the help so far guys ill keep trying.

yes most in this day and age are self adjusting. IF you're still having issues which you are then get under the car and follow the steel cables back to the rear brakes. Look for an adjustment point where you can loosen and retighten the cables to pull the slack out. Most vehicles can be adjusted this way

yeah just did this today took back wheels of checked brake caliper piston on both sides to make sure it was aligned with the little nub sticking out of the pad. and there isnt any adjustment in the back it just has a metal piece at the end. And a spring where it connects. If i follow the cables back towars the car looks like the go in threw the back seat.

So next is under the center console. And if no adjustment then under the rear seat carpet where i believe the T connector is. Good thing ive taken the car apart so many times its no biggie LOL.

Ive also tried reversing and hitting the brakes pulling on the handle many times with the brake pedal pushed down and not pushed down. Just incase anyone else is having this problem.

Funny. I noticed yesterday while putting my snow tires on that I could turn my rear left wheel without any effort. I'm going to have to check my brakes before the snow hits I guess.
