  • So I get a call from my machanic.....

I get a call today from my mechanic and he informs me that my main seal is leaking and that's the cause for my oil loss. Super.

How much oil are you losing? If its like a quart at the most every 1000 miles I say screw it let it leak. Wont hurt anything.

Wow that is bad, that much oil if you trade it they will notice it with the puddle when they move it for a test drive. Unfortianlly you will need to spend the money.

Belive me, I FULLY understand how much it sucks. Last year I had to suck up a head gasket on my car.

Re: So I get a call from my machanic.....

I got my car back today and its running great. The bill was less that expected at only $530. I talk to my mechanic and he told me there was a service bulletin out for this issue. Turns out that GM redesigned the seal to be a double seal as apposed to a single seal and they changed the material the seal was mad out of. So in turn if anyone has a LX9 and it starts to leak oil, this is the first place you should check if its not the pan or plug!
