Wipers stopped working

Worked completely normal yesterday..

This morning there was a lot of snow, but I cleared it all off the windshield. I turned the wipers on and they stopped 1/8 of the way up. I pushed them back, but they no longer work at all.

Checked the wiper switch fuse, and wiper fuse. they're OK.
Checked the wiper relays, they're not burnt.. don't know how to check them.
checked the diode, also not burnt, didn't check if it works yet..

There are two relays, does that mean there are two separate motors? Does that mean the switch is busted?

edit: checked the diode, it works fine.

if you turn them on can you hear the motor going? You could have burned out the motor. If you hear the motor then the arms either are loose or broken so they won't go.

No, I don't hear the motors.. must be electrical.

edit: I'm an idiot... I CAN hear the wiper motor going.
I don't know how it's all connected though, can I get to it?

Will I need to replace parts?

iit there was snow on it its possible you poped the linkages apart in that case you may be able to reassemble them or something might have broke it all depends

I had the same problem this morning. cleared off the car went to hit the windshield wipers they didn't move, and then i heard a pop. Now i hear the motor when i hit the wiper switch but nothing happens. How can i get at them to see if i can fix them? Weather has been kind of crappy around here lately so need to get this fixed asap.

any help is greatly appreciated!!

lol thank you, yeah ive been around here long enough to know whatever is wrong with my car... has probably happened to someone else here haha

One another note i actually fixed the wipers this morning so all is good again

if you pop off the wiper arms and remove the plastic piece at the botttom of the windshield the whole assembly is right there. If you unscrew the three bolts and un-clip the wire harness the whole assembly comes right out. for me the arms popped off the motor thing so i just bought a pack of clips at advanced auto and played around till i found one that worked then put all back together wasn't a bad fix at all cept for freezing for few hours lol
