  • Headlight Wiring Harness Plug?

My passenger side headlight wiring harness plug (male, the side connected to the car) is super corroded and causing issues with my headlights. I know its the plug because wiggling the wires causes my Halos to flicker off and on. Also swapped the headlight to the other side and it works fine.

I'm having a super hard time finding any info on what type of plug it is so I can buy a replacement. All my searching is coming up with the plugs for the bulbs, not the assembly, and not the part I need. I could hard wire it together but I really don't wanna do that. Any help would be awesome.

    Re: Headlight Wiring Harness Plug?

I realize this is athree year old post and you probably have fixed the issue already but for anyone else looking at this theirs a few options pull the wires and pins out of the harness and replace the pins their is a special tool to do this but ive always used a pair of pliers or wire cutters and used the tip and pull gently and wiggle the pin out and replace the pins which are very cheap and slide them back into the connectors option two would be what I just recently did and worked fine and in my opinion better then the connector if you don't have the money to fix it go one wire at a time and snip the wire on male and female connector and twist the wires together use some electrical tape or wire connectors the twist on ones or the tubes you clamp closed if you take the route a little extra would be usefull since you wont be able to remove headlight completely out of the car or buy new connectors that are waterproof http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/ everything u need stock part wise

      Re: Headlight Wiring Harness Plug?

My headlights had the same problem and I was able to find an easier solution if your not very skilled with wiring your own connectors or making your own plugs. If you get lucky on eBay, you can find some headlight harness PIGTAILS (wires already wired to connector) for both male and female. Search up "G6 headlight harness pigtail" or "GM Pontiac G6 Female/Male Headlight Assembly Pigtail Connector" on eBay, I found the second one to find better results. You are going to pay at most $20 for one but I believe it's worth it. When they arrive, all you have to do it snip the old connectors off (don't forget to disconnect the battery) and use red butt connectors to connect the new harness. Tape up all the butts and tape up the connectors to seal out moisture as good as you can. Hope this helps everybody!
