Re: Dealership scratched my car (Need Opinions)

    A. that's some serious dealership bullshit...

    B. i voted you have them paint it. they should match it and paint it. and if they mess it up and it looks bad they should pay someone that has some minor skill...you might try to actually talk to one of the paint guys, might be hard but they should have more of an idea how the painting will come out... i took mine to a GM dealership for painting when i got hit and they mixed all their own paint and did a very good job blending and matching

    good luck man

      Thanks man.

Another problem with that is, my car doesn't have your conventional clear coat. The clear is mixed in with the paint. As far as them being able to match it using the factory paint. I REALLY doubt it, there's too big of a difference in colors.

You need to find a better dealership. Somebody that actually appreciates you and your car and its needs. After visiting different dealers I've been stickin with the same one the last 5 years and I get my work done right. Good luck and hopefully the paint colors will match up

Dude if they won't do anything for you, tell ask the guy who you're dealing with to get his manager you want to talk to him, keep going higher if you need to until shit gets done. Don't back down and don't take no for an answer. If they still won't do anything tell them fine, you'll just contact a lawyer and get it taken care of the expensive way for them, I'm sure that will make them change their tune.

anthony, I say be a dick make them pay for you to get your paint shop to do it. Otherwise I think they are just gonna walk all over you. You've been extremely paitience up to this point and very easy going with them. I'd say that you would be just/fair/right in being a dick and getting the job done proper by your paint shop. Your dealer has already shown their incompetence and I would be afraid to let them handle this sort of paint work.

Hi, I've been reading up on your problems here, I work in a dealer body shop, so I may have some helpful insight. As far as who should fix it, that is entirely up to you, wherever you are comfortable having it done, ask to see some of their work and decide after that. As far as "factory paint" there is no such thing GM doesn't sell paint, aside from touch-up bottles. Normally a bigger shop will have a large rack (hee hee) of tints, in which almost any color can be duplicated. Matching your color should require the use of a spectrophotometer, a fancy word for a color camera, which will give a blendable match. Just make sure that when the bumper is painted, that they re-clear the whole cover and not just blend it off, that's a cheap shitty way of doing things. Good luck with whatever happens. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Let them buff it. If that doesnt work make them paint it.
If you go through someone else they will never pay it. NEVER.
You will be stuck and whatever attorney you get wont rivel theirs.

If its a dealership then they can do it right.

My car doesn't have a separate clear coat. The clear coat is mixed in with the paint. Thanks though.

And thanks Pooners, I'll see what they say. But it is definitely not buffable. All the scratches catch my fingernail.
