  • LZ4 vs. LX9

ok I am new to this site but not so new to the g6 I have an 07 GT with a Injen cold air intake custom magnaflow exhaust and a VMS 93 octane tune I raced my buddys 06 V6 trim that is bone stock and has 91k miles and he beat me 3 times!? I thought the 06 wich I believe is the Lx9 only has 200 hp?

    Re: LZ4 vs. LX9

Sounds like he's got an LX9 like mine.... I don't know why my car is so much faster than any of the first or second generation V6's, but it is. I was thinking that I might have a review car. He might as well.

      Re: LZ4 vs. LX9

Its because the LX9 is a beast

Nope but really its because the LZ4 has VVT (Variable Valve Timing) which kicks in at x RPMs which will effect the outcome of the race. It depends what speeds you were at, when you were shifting, etc...

Does he have the 6 spd manual by any chance? lol

and we actually have 210hp thank you very much

well the LS7 is much nicer or the LS9 but seriously though the LZ4 is the non VVT model. the LX9 is the same motor but with VVT.

              Other way around. LZ4 = VVT, LX9 = non-VVT

Actually the LZ4 is based on the 3.9 LZ9 just a smaller displacement. the lx9 is a totally differant engine based on the old 3400.

                  Re: LZ4 vs. LX9

My LZ4 has 224 hp but I can hardly make my tires chirp when I floor the pedal. When I drove a 2006 with the old 201 hp LX9 I can easily burn some rubber and the car felt a lot more responsive. Go figure!!!

The LZ4 is a destroked version of the LZ9 (Different Crank)

Yea I never have understood that.. I can barely burn rubber in my 224 hp g6 but my gf has a malibu with a 3.1 that will spin halfway through 1st gear hell I can do a better burn out in my moms cavalier not saying either one is faster than my 6 but I can floor it and it barely chirps the tires.... and yes my traction control is off

Same here my old 04 Impala with the 3.4l burned rubber often. But the 6 not so much although when it finally did while the ground was wet, just so happened to be in front of a cop in a mall parking lot who was so polite to pull me over and lecture me on how not to drive. I Just apologized and took it and didn't mention the wet surface. Figured he would have noticed the wet surface.

My guess is the reason that the LZ4 wont do a burn out is bc of the torque management nanny. I would assume a good tune should remedy the problem.
