  • G6 stock thermostat question

From a prevous thread talking about the G6 thermostat changing..... The dash hawk says the maintained engine temp is 205-ish degrees. So I take it we have a 205 thermostat. Not apears the case. Go to like auto zone and claims stock thermostat is 185, there is an optional 195 but there is no 205. So do we really have a 185 and fans are set high or something? I dont know what to think. If we have a 185, then technically just need the fans reprogramed for lower temp settings? But still the question I have what thermostat we have, 3.9L GTP?

edit: Never mind. Don't need it.

Per the service manual, thermostat full open temperature on both the 3.5L and 3.9L is 195°F.

Well...remember that the thermo's job id to keep temps stable and warm up the engine faster.

10 degrees over thermo opening seems ok for operating temps. The PCM will keep the temps at that setting by turning the fans on/off.
