Im pretty intersted. Since they are delayed at the moment, I may be even more inclined to buy them. Money is a hair tight at the moment and my financial future is a little fuzzy since I am going away to school again. Let me know when the group buy is going down and I will get back to you if I am in.

    Thanks.

If this Group buy ever takes off im in for sure. Ive been in need of brakes for months now. Its gotten to the point where they shake the whole car pretty bad even when going like at 40mph and on the highway forget it i try not to use the brakes

My brakes are bad too... If i'm doing 60 and need to slow to 30 it's like a plane coming in for a landing.

                          :/

An interesting comment about aftermarket brakes

Saw this in today's Toronto Sun (although I found the same article linked elsewhere)...

                            http://www.lfpress.com/cgi-bin/publish. ... 1&s=wheels

To quote from the article (read the full article for context):
Originally posted by Jason Turner, owner of Turner Automotive Diesel
It has been our experience -- and is now our opinion -- that unless your car gets extreme use or is used for some type of racing, performance brake rotors are not worth it.

There are many reasons why. For example, if they were to warp from heat (e.g., fast highway stops) they can not be machined like regular rotors. They have to be replaced. This can get costly.

We have also found that the brands that many local performance and muffler stores sell tend to rust badly in the winter months, usually needing replacement by spring. This can get costly. We truly believe that for a street car, a good quality set of pads and a good quality set of rotors is all you need.

Just don't settle for the cheap rotors, as there are many differences between them and the correct top line OE rotors. Most of the cheap rotors do not have the same thickness on the braking surfaces. While their overall thickness is the same, they tend to put more webbing in the middle. These "white box" rotors, as we call them, tend to warp quickly and require frequent replacement.

Lastly, whoever puts your brakes together should make sure they use a torque wrench to tighten the wheels, not an air gun. By torquing down the wheels properly, you will extend the life of the rotor and prevent unwanted warping. The bottom line: Sometimes stock parts do a better job than a so-called performance part.
Because the PowerSlot rotors weren't available in time for my vacation in September (drive from Toronto to Yellowstone = 7,800km), I decided to get my car into the dealership to deal with the rotor warp issue. They turned all four rotors, under warranty and I got new rear pads (paid for, but now they're "lifetime warranty". The front pads were replaced under warranty at about 27,000km). Brakes are working great again... but I don't know how long they'll last. I'll be pleased if it gets me through to next summer - say 30K.

Now I'm in conflict... do I stick with the OEM rotors (at $200+ each for the front rotors!) or do I go to the aftermarket?

The powerslots are pricey but are also a lot better than the stock brakes, IMO. I also think they are not likely to warp, as long as you break them in properly.

can the powerslots not be turned if the warp? I've always wondered.
