  • Advice on replacing complete headlight assembly

I was recently in a fender bender with my 2009 G6 GT. The only real damage was that the protective lens cover for the passenger side headlight was shattered. My Pontiac dealer says it isn't possible to just replace the protective lens. The entire headlight assembly must be replaced, and they want almost $500 for the job.

For that kind of money, I figure I could upgrade both headlights to HID. Here are two alternatives I am considering --

I like the Pro Tuning Lab headlights better, but PTL has terrible reviews on the web. Anyone have experience with PTL or the headlights on their website?

The other alternative is to go to a body shop and see whether they can find a headlight assembly at a junkyard. My understanding is that any headlight from a 2005-2009 G6 will work.

    All advice and comments welcome.

    Any stock headlight will work.

The first link are eagle eyes, go with those but you can find them cheapest on Amazon or Ebay under thr eagle eyes name.

The top two in the second link are also eagle eyes. The next few (with the eyebrow like light across the top) are Spyders. Don't get them. They are pretty crappy.

Those are pretty much the only two aftermarket lights for us. Or you could have Dom make you a set of retrofitted lights. By far the best option, but a little more money than the others.

TYC is about the only quality option for a headlight on a G6. Everyone hates the Spyders and the Eagle Eyes have garbage wiring and the lights look like crap after a couple years.

the spyders are more symmetrical than the eagle eye, that's why couldn't bring myself to buy the eagle eyes. i didn't buy the spyders for the halos or the led's because they both suck. but when you have the low beams on, the car looks like it's angry due to the projectors glaring at you. it looks totally badass and gives it a totally new vibe.

if you want a used factory one, I have one kicking around here. $40 plus shipping and it's yours.
