  • continental or michelin ???

this is for my GTO and i like this site better then the LS1GTO.com I am looking at getting a new set of rims and tires front 18x8.5 with 235/40/18 rear18x9.5 265/35/18 my question is in tires I am comparing the Michelin Pilot sport ps2 and the Continental extreme contact dw if anyone has these tires and can leave me feedback I would greatly appreciate it , there is a $300.00 difference between the 2 different tires and the Continental is cheaper and seem to rate better.

I talked with a tire wholesaler a few days ago who knows both of these tires well. He says Michelin has the market cornered as far as technology. He talked me out of a set of tires for my Trailblazer he sells for a set of Michelins that cost less. I asked him about Conti's and he said they're excellent tires also but got a bad rap like a lot of other companies on their OE tires. I'm planning on getting the Conti DWS on his advice. Either one should be a good pick. I'll go Michelin on SUV and passenger touring, Continental on a performance all season or summer only.

They're both good summer tires. Michelin does have a 3 year flat change and 6yr/20k mile warranty on front tires and half that on the rears since you're running different sizes. Continental has no treadwear warranty. Michelin has no road hazard warranty, Continental has a one year-1/32" road hazard. You can also get $60 off at a GM dealer for both, although I don't know if it applies to 2 different sizes.

It seems you've already done some homework on both so you probably know you may get slightly better performance in one area on the Michelin, another area on the Conti. Price and warranty seem to be the big difference. Give up one to get the other. I'd pick the Conti. For the price difference you can buy more tires if need be. You're also getting a newer model tire with the Conti, the Michelin has been out for quite a few years.

They're ok. I wouldn't quite put them up there with Michelin, Conti, Goodyear, Yokohama. Overall nothing wrong with them but I'd go with the 4 I listed before BFG's. Just my opinion.

I just put a set of the DWSs on my G6. Those things are insanely grippy. They also have excellent wet traction.

I bought the DW for mine, ride is good, but if your looking for more performance stick with the ps2 they will handle around corners better and grip real good. Had the BF KDW's and there garbage, nothing good about those

Hes looking at summer tires not snow tires as its only going to be a summer driver, PS2 and continental DW tires are not intended for snow driving also.

The question I was answering was why the price was lower for one set of tires compared to another. I know he is looking for summer tires. He posted this at the "other G6 website" as well and answered over there.

I'm sorry guys I don't want to start arguments but tire rack is rating the continental DW and the michelin PS2 the #1#2 tires in this size i'm just trying to make an informed decision and check out all options before I spend about $1400 on tires alone. I don't want the same problem I have with the new sumitomos on my car. They suck when its wet I feather the clutch and they spin through 1st/2nd and 3rd when im not putting any power to them so really don't want to have this problem after I spend the money. THANKS ALL !!!
