    Re: Cobalt SS Brembo brakes

well when i get my lazy ass to Santa Clarita/Valencia i will go to Gravana, maybe i should call them an make an appointment. then we can solve the mystery if the Baer big brake will fit the 6 or not. i dont really care on which company it is Baer, Brembo, Wilwood etc. they r all great companies and it would be bad ass to have them on the 6

The good thing was she said that they have been getting quite a few inquiries on their product on a G6.

Sooooo maybe if we just assign one person every other day to call them from a different area code (as they can see your number).

Of course they may be reading this post as they are familiar with this website.

She did say that there was a european Ford based upon our platform that may already have aftermarket racing brakes
and that I should look into that.

That can't be right I mean if the Turbo Cobalt shares the SAME Hub and knuckle with the G6, which Im told they do, the Brembos should bolt up no problem

        Re: Cobalt SS Brembo brakes

ok just got off the phone with Jim over at Gravana. found out alot of useful information.
the Cobalt break assembles will not work on the G6 because the mounting bracket is different. he says theres alot of potential stuff for the G6. he was suppose to be doing alot of stuff for the G6 but thing got tied up and had to give the car back to GM. but the good news is that if we can get enough pre-pay numbers he will get stuff moving for use.
        for example
if we can get 100+ prepaid for coil overs he can probably get them
he said he would do it for 25units for a body kit and hood, he sent me a e-mail which im waiting for. for a few snap shots of one he fabbed up

and i got a few e-mail addresses for the big guys at Wilwood, Baer Brakes and SS Brakes so if we send some e-mails their way the might consider makin a proper big brake kit for r cars.

          Re: Cobalt SS Brembo brakes

I'm not going to prepay for anything. Ever. Any business that asks you to do that to cover their R&D is asking for trouble. Show me the product, then I'll give you my money.

And you will never get 100 on a list here, much less 100 prepaid. Hate to rain on your parade.

will im sure if we can get an interest list together there will be some stimulation. and try to work out a deal the 100prepaid is for the coil-overs. he went into detail about it but it was hard to follow and write ate the same time. im going to stay in contact with him and maybe i can let him use my car for doing prototypes and fabrication uses

What size are the G6 rotors vs Cobalt SS ones?

I think that we have better chance with the Saab ones.... and only need beefier brakes on the front...I dont really want to lockout the rear tires while heavy braking...
Remember that the G6 is 60 front 40 rear, although it seems like 80 front and 20 rear

                    Re: Cobalt SS Brembo brakes

There is no European ford based on epsilon.

                    I'd never pre-pay for R&D either.

Big brakes on this car are in NO way worth more than 1000 dollars/axle to me, thats why I am interested in using the cobalt's parts. The only reason they wouldn't work is the hub is different which would mean the two huge bolts that hold the caliper bracket to the hub are in different places. In that case, I'd give up and just go spend the money on my project car.

And I'd really like an experienced oppinion about what the hubs look like on a Cobalt. From what I see they are EXACTLY the same, but I haven't been underneath one with a good view yet so,

Our weight dist. isn't much different than a cobalt. The rotors aren't too much larger but its the calipers and heat dissipation Im interested in. Rears are VENTED rotors of almost the exact size as ours so I wouldnt worry about lockup.

And just what does FE5 or FE2 mean?

I wouldn't expect the parts to necessarily be coded the same between cars, but some parts might bolt-right-up as a straight swap - although I doubt it knowing GM. For the G6 alone they have three different tail lights!

Those are GM codes for suspension packages, including springs, struts/shocks, sway bars, etc. For instance, the G8 base model as FE2 suspension package, and I think the G8 GT has an FE3 package.

That doesn't mean anything. The G6 and Malibu suspensions are coded differently I bet, I know the spring part numbers are, but I'm running Eibach's for a G6 fine. Just because the sum of the parts is different doesn't mean a few of the parts aren't the same . After all, my dealer told me there was no way these springs were going to fit because they were for a different car - they were a direct drop in, and I did it myself in about four hours.

Honestly we're not going to know until we can compare it side by side, so someone go buy the parts already
