Ok so I tried to get a Flowmaster 80 series put on my base G6 and the guys told me it was too big for my car due to the size of the muffler and that it was dual exhaust and the 2nd outlet was not cut out yet. Anyone know of any good mufflers that fit the ecotec with a nice low rumble? (I deleted my muffler for now and it sounds pretty good. No popping like the 4th of july.) I don't mind loud, but I DO NOT want turbo ricecakeydom. I WANT people to look at my G6 and be jelly ;-) Any recommendations? And (To experienced people ONLY) Is the muffler delete harming my car in anyway? I've heard that it causes issues with back pressure but I've also heard that newer cars can adjust to back pressure changes and adjust the timing to fit.

Free Shipping - Flowmaster 80 Series Crossflow Mufflers with qualifying orders of $109. Shop Mufflers at Summit Racing.
^^ That should fit. You may want to measure first though. You'll want the dual outlet valance.
Back pressure is an argument that I am staying out of, but you're fine.1972 F100

And the dual valance is part number 22712778
I highly recommend doing this. Sounds great and feels strong. No loss in power like you would from a straight pipe
I doubt you will have damaged anything but I never recommend a straight pipe, especially for a 4 cylinder.
I hope you figure out what you're going to do. Also, stick with 2.25" piping. Hope this answered your PM too

Re: 2.4 Ecotec Muffler
Awesome feedback guys! Just the info I was looking for. I have been driving it for a few days since I got straight piped and the noise from driving at a consistent speed is annoying the fk outta me. I saw a little 95 honda drive by and I was purely ashamed that it sounded like my 09 G6. The disappointment was almost to the degree of the time the guy told me the 80 series wouldn't fit my car at the moment.sigpicMods to come: STB, Coilovers, (debating) new wheels and tires, Intake w/ tune, (as soon as the valance gets here) custom exhaust.

Re: 2.4 Ecotec Muffler
Thank you all for your input and helping me decide what to do with ol' Sovereign! It's greatly appreciated and I hope to post a video of how it sounds after I get everything installed. If I can't get a hold of an arc or mig welder I'd have to take it to have it done but hopefully it all goes smooth!sigpicMods to come: STB, Coilovers, (debating) new wheels and tires, Intake w/ tune, (as soon as the valance gets here) custom exhaust.

Re: 2.4 Ecotec Muffler
Any old exhaust shop will be able to install it for you. The best place for the valance is either gmpartsgiant or crateenginedepot and u dont need a picture, if it has the part number, itll be right. Glad I could help.Paying someone to install parts on your car, and bragging about it being fast is like watching someone SMURF your wife, and being proud to raise the kids
