91 Wams tune...Upgrade to 93?

  • 91 Wams tune...Upgrade to 93?

    I have at least two reasons to upgrade to 93 from 91 and was wondering if it mattered all that much or wouldn't be worth it.

    #1 91 oct is not as readily available around here as I thought it was when I got the tune. Only sunoco has it.

    #2 would be possible further improvement in performance.

    I know a 3.5 vvt can only do so much but she does ok now. I did get surprised by a Mazda the other day though. His testicles gave in before his car did therefore I won.

    But not having to worry about getting gas at one place only would be a great benefit. Would it be worthwhile to send my ecm back to wams to have it programmed again? What kind of difference in performance would there be? I'm thinking very little but I have been wrong before.

    Wait, you can get 91, but not 93? Heck just stick the 93 in with the 91 tune.

      i don't have a tune i still use 91 for my 6.
      so i assume it is more than ok to use 93 while you have a 91 tune.

      Crab intakes with Crab claws
      Resonator delete
      Magnaflow cat-back exhaust system
      Racingline strut tower bar
      Tinted taillights
      18' Enkei Razr's with 225/45/18 Toyo Proxes
      Painted calipers

        I can get 93 anywhere. 91 is hard to find. Not sure why I got the 91 instead of 93 in the first place but I did. I thought it was ok to put 93 in. As long as the octane isnt lower you're good right?

          Basically. Some older (90s era) cars will have issues if too high octane is put in, but most modern cars can handle a small jump. I run 93 myself, but then I'm also using a custom tune.

            93 octane in a 91 octane tune is fine. Upgrading to 93 won't give much. I think I heard Christ mention this a while back when someone asked a similar question.
