  • 6t70 6spd auto shifting issues

So I have been having some random times of the car jumping between 250-500 rpm shifting between second and third gear. Well friday night at the track it did it once in second to third, then on another pass it did it again shifting from third to fourth. Has anyone else had any issues with their 6spd auto trans? I have noticed some dampness around the passenger axle seal and the transmission cooler lines look like they might have some wetness to them. I plan on getting both attended to. I know the axle seal is covered under the 5/100K warranty but is the trans cooler lines covered too? Also could a trans tune fix the slip in between the shifts?

Would that be a drivetrain warranty repair or a out of pocket expense?

does it do it WOT? mine jumps not when it shifts but if your going like 15 mph let off for 10 secs. and it drops below 1000 rpm and u barely touch the gas it will.

I personally think it thats how they shift....mine does it too just youll know when it will do it all the time, just dont let it or make it repeat....Its not covered under the warranty my dealre covered it cause i go there for all my oil changes and service..it was under bumper to bumper the first time and the second time it went he just covered it again maybe defective part??? it leaks where the medal coupler goes to the rubber hose

Re: 6t70 6spd auto shifting issues

pretty much ALL of GMs trans lines leaks, my 08 GT did it, my moms 06 montecarlo did it, my grandparents 08 malibu did it, kyles GXP did it twice.............and they are NOT covered after the bumper to bumper warranty, and ya i think that is just how they shift as well, mabey a tune would change that i guess i will find out soon..........but mine only shifts like that under WOT im sure its prob all the toruque management that makes it shif like that

have you chesked your trans fluid level?

i would say the axle seal deal is pretty normal unless its leaking a LOT because when i put my headers on i found out why, putting on the headers meant i had to pull the pass side shaft out of the trans, and apparently the splined end actually goes IN TO the trans, not just a splined sealed bushing...........all there is to keep the fluid inside the trans is a rubber boot on the axleshaft

Re: 6t70 6spd auto shifting issues

Do you mean you have like RPM hang up? Where when is shifts the RPMs stay hanged up till it really shifts?

The Torrent GXP has minor RPM hang up that happens once in awhile but thats also the Hydromatic 6spd but they should all be assentially the same. If your talking about RPM hang up a tune would correct alot of that.

also are you talking about it doing it in drive, or tapshift because the tapshift has a LOT more lag in shifting than just auto

This is in drive, I have had it sometimes hold a gear for a few seconds before finally up shifting too.

If you get a TCM tune it will help alittle but I still get the the harsh shifting still....I use manual mode so i dont get it as much...I have RacingLine Street Motor Mounts installed also not sure if i feel it more with them in maybe you have a lose motor mount too maybe?? Check the mounts and the damper next to my belt and trans fluid and lines.....if thats all fine then leave it until something bad happens

From what i've seen in some research it seems like anything more than bolt ons and this trans is at it's limit. I saw on one website that the trans is limited to 280lb tq.
