Flowmaster parts im looking at are 409 stainless, so rust shouldn't be a concern. I changed plans on the gt resonator once I got itinerary the air and measured. Im gonna use a 22" stainless glasspack as a resonator.

Post #1834 posted up a 6" round muffler as a resonator. I had a 6" initially and it hit the ground on every speed bump
and driveway. I recommend you dont go bigger than 4"....

Magnaflow makes many that fit the bill.
ya when i put my GTR on my GXP i noticed theres no way its ever gonna come out the pass side unless the driverside somehow gets clogged.......he put the inlet thru on of the outlets the exhaust is meant to go into the side with the 1 pipe and out the side with the 2 as theres a very low angle "y" inside the muffler.........im actually looking at haveing my exhaust redone as in haveing the muffler turned around the right way......leaving all the GTR piping but turning the muffler around and haveing the outlets to the tips redone in mandrel bent stailess with the stock GXP tips....

and that you are correct on the resonator...... i have a 4" round one and still have clearance issues with being lowered.......i got a flange to have welded on to my 2.5" stailess pipe to try out and see if it sounds decent dow that the muffler is broke in and if it does im just gonna remove the pipe i have the resonator welded into.......

this SHOULD be the inlet but because he uses it as the driverside outlet the exhaust isnt gonna make the 180 bend to go out the passenger side if its just a strait unrestricted shout of the driverside....

I always said the GTR exhaust was a fake!! I never mentioned it on the forum because everyone on here loves it so much and I didn't want to step on any toes but when he claimed he "re-baffled" the muffler I was skeptical because these Magnaflow mufflers never had baffles to begin with!! I also never seen any weld marks so I figured he was lying!! And then when people posted videos of their exhaust and you would only see (in the cold) it coming out of the drivers side I knew it was for sure he was lying and that he had the muffler turned backwards! If you look at the Camaro and T/A kits they use this muffler the right way! Glad you posted this so everyone has proof now!!

yes i will definately at some point in the near future be turning it around the right way....... i figure all ill need is a 2.5" stainless mandrel bend and then 2 90* mandrel bend stainless legs which ill cut to size have tips and hangers welded on and have the u bend expanded on one end so i can retain the bolt on feature of the GTR and not actually "alter" it any if i decide to sell it..... the muffler alone is over $200 if i remember right and i love the sound........ just wish it came out both sides........

i still wouldnt call it a waste of money.........good luck finding mandrel bent 2.5" T304 and a $200+ muffler for under 700......stainless piping in itself is over $10/foot from stainless works and then u still have to find someone to bend it.... i still like the GTR im just choosing to turn the mufler around the correct way which isnt gonna take much work at all.....

I still like mine and I can indeed see new welds on the muffler.

I use the same style muffler from magnaflow and its set up exactly the same way. I get flow out of both. more flow out of my passenger side then driver side until you get on it. then it flows equally. the GT-R is setup the same way. little flow out of one side until your on the throttle. before you jump to a conclusion on the exhaust understand how it works first

on your magnaflow setup, did they have to mount the muffler further back than the stock? the shop i went to said they would have to do that and that i would have to get shorter tips... also do you have any type of resonator or just a test pipe? i am going magnaflow 4 sure.

just FYI that is NOT the same maganflow muffler at all reguardless if sam did anything to it....exhaust does NOT come out the other side AT ALL unless you put your hand over the other outlet and in fact air gets sucked IN through the other "outlet" due to the vaccum effect for the muffler being used backwards.......im not jumping to conclusions i know this as fact....

did you install it correctly? maybe you have it in upside down. the inlet hooked up to the outlet and the outlet hooked up to the inlet? maybe try flipping/rotating it. I have seen the GT-R in person and there was flow coming from both

this past summer, at the indiana meet.. brian had his exhaust temps up around 1300*F.. you got nearly burned on the hot air off the headers.. you got burned on the hot gas out of the driver side, and you could hold the passenger tip..

i you look back thru the GTR threads.. you will find sam had intentionally designed the gt-r with this in mind.. i argued with him at length about the design.. i was nearly booted from the site for doing so.. in the end the results are still the same..

Sam designed the gt-r using a camaro style muffler using an outlet as an inlet claiming a valve effect.. so yes.. the GT-R should flow out one side more then the other.. ALL GT-Rs have heavy carbon deposits on the driver side and not on the passenger..

sooooo, is the magnaflow muffler that is similiar to the gtr muffler going to have the same exhaust flow?
