Does anyone have any experiance with this company? I have a subscription to Car Audio and Electronics and I read an article in there for their RSD 65cs. For 150 bones, they seem to be able to hack it pretty well. I am looking for a good pair of component speakers that aren't going to cost me my first born. They got a good review and I haven't heard anything bad about the company (they have been around for about 20 years). My main concern is what music they will play. I listen to wide variety of music, but mostly metal. My wife likes softer stuff and country, so I want something that will hold up on both ends without a lot of blurring of sounds.

Here is the Phoenix Gold product page - http://www.phoenixgold.com/2004/products.html

I am looking through the CA&E site for the article on them, but haven't had any luck yet. The overall conclusion was,
"If you're looking for a good set of component or coaxial speakers that won't break the bank or force you to take out a second mortgage on your house, you owe it to yourself to check out the Phoenix Gold RSd 65cs. These are some of the best sounding speakers I've tested in this price range and are an excellent value." - Bob Marrow

I am checking them out and any help would be great. Also, does anyone have any experience with Elemental Design's speakers? I was interested in them as well.

With out having personal experiance, my buddy at one point had pheonix gold in his Exploader. I really enjoyed it and he could bang on it pretty well and it held up!

PG isn't the company they were years ago, that said they are still a decent choice. You can def find better amps out there, but you can also find a lot worse. They are mid range imo, kinda like the same road RF is on...

Elemental Design is pretty good, they have good sound quality and are decent all around. They aren't really in my list when I shop but they aren't bad at all.

I had good luck with a PG dual channel amplifier, an alpine deck and a pair of JL Audio W0 subby's (back in the Cavalier). I think they make good products.

Thanks for the help. I am just looking for a good set of components that won't require me to pay out the ass. Speaking of amps, what is a good amp along the same lines? If PG amps aren't that great, I probably won't go with the speakers. I like to try and keep the same company all the way through. I like to try and keep it that way if I can.

the kenwood components that i got cost me 75 for the front and 65 for the rear, it pays to know the right people cuz they retail at twice that but i would still pay full price for them if i had to and i dont think thats too much money

phoenix gold used to be one of the top-tier mobile amp/processor companies but that was about 10 years ago since I've dealt with new stuff from them. the fact that they've drifted off into other parts of the mobile-audio market doesn't bode well for their quality anymore. more's the pity....wish i still had my route 66 amp tho.
