  • Old Rockford Bass Knobs...Make your own?

So I got my hands on an old 551x Rockford Fosgate amp for free a few months ago (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-irfqWlVV9H ... -551X.html)

My old legacy amp had a bass boost knob I mounted to the dash and I love having that control:

But this amp didn't come with it's bass knob and the one I have from my Legacy doesn't work with it. This amp is discontinued and they've since gone through 2 variations of bass knob that won't work with the amp either. I need this one:

But it's hard to find at a decent price. I mean, $25 isn't bad I guess and I DID get the amp for free so it's not that big of a deal. I just feel like its sitting in some car audio store's discount crap bin for $5 somewhere, ya know? Anyone have on or know where I can get one cheap?

My other question is how do these work? Anyone have any kind of specifications on this model? They seem to be just a potentiometer in a little box with an LED attached. I'd think I could make that kinda thing pretty easily. If I buy a new one, I'm just going to take it apart out of it's box anyway and mount it in the same spot. Why not just get the parts anyways?

    Any help?

I would think you could make it. I have a newer Rockford Amp and my bass knob is smaller. I just hooked it up underneath by where the hood release is but it shouldn't be too hard.
