the shifter plate does come off. i have never taken that one off...yet. someone PMd me some instructions on how to take it off. ill look for them in a bit. and i only used Duplicolor.

here they are, provided by cdubb33...starting with the armrest center console.
"ok so heres how to get that out...

bottom front corner of the center console you have 2 10 mm bolts one on driver one on passenger covered with black plastic cirlces. Then back toward the back of the console you have 3 bolts to take out, 2 phillips screws and 1 of the 10 mm bolts. so total you have 8 bolts to take out. Once all of that is removed lift the dash up, I couldnt get mine to come all the way out, so I just picked it up, leaned it towards the front of the car and then pulled the gear piece out. Now the gear piece has 4 tabs in each corner you need to loosen before popping it out, so you dont break them. Any questions, lemme know. "

"ah ok, easy if you have the center console out...

there are 4 tabs on the shifter plate piece (thing with p, n, d etc in it) that u press and they pop up. Before you do this though you need to remove the shifter, pop the bottom chrome trim ring down with a screwdriver then there is a screw in the front, take that out then the shifter piece comes off. make sense? if not ill try to get pics for you."

you have trim on the wheel? um, i dont know the exact details but they can come off. the downside is you have to take off the airbag and probably hard. Lampoon has done it.

oh ok. BAMBAMM has added lights and found a place to plug them into under the dash.

Are you looking to have the LED's come on only with the interior lights, or do you want to be able to control when they turn on and off?

I used Duplicolor caliper paint for mine, they snap off real easy. They snap on just as easy. Just pull from right to left on a bit of an angle.

As for LED's just make sure they are grounded properly and use a fuse addon. Don't just wire them into your fuse box, as setting your car ablaze is never a good idea.

um no and yes..? yours has the intake built into the cover itself. ours are two separate pieces. so you have to disconnect the intake too if you want to paint the cover.
