  • My first sighting of G8

Went into the local Pontiac dealer today and walked by this car in the show room and finally after some time noticed what it was--a G8. Black with grey leather interior. May just be me, but I am in no way impressed. Didn't grab my attention like the GTP did; sat in it even and was even less impressed. View over the hood is enormous. Dash display was even frumpy but what really turned me off were two things. One, to get a sunroof demanded a preferred option package which included the leather, heated seats etc. for almost $6,000.00! And the price then for just the six was almost $38K Canadian.
At that price it is a definite no go when my lease is up.
Inquired too about the lack of leasing after this month; was told buying rates and low interest would make payments relatively the same except that they'd be for longer periods of time and you'd own the car not GM. The advantage of a lease was that one could get into a new model every four years.
Will depend on what the other manufacturers are doing and offering when my lease is up.

Re: My first sighting of G8

They just brought in 4 at my local pontiac dealership. It was pretty fast actually because we only got the first GXP about 2 months ago. My citys and surrounding areas population is only 120,000 so they got a few to many I'm thinking...

The new challenger is 65,000 MSRP at my local dealership. 3.6 G8 is les than 40 ....i'm assuming the GT is in the mid 40's low 50's. You get what you pay for.

You can get a loaded G8 for only $2000 more than a loaded G6.

Cool in which dealership did you see the G8? I need to go and check it out.

The outside is nice, but to me the interior just looks like plain old Pontiac styling to me, and GM in general, except for Cadillac. Sure it may compete with the BMW 5-Series performance and room-wise...but definitely not interior-wise.

I want to go check them out at the local dealerships but I am too afraid I'd fall in love with it and want one and it's not an option for us right now..

I think the interior is where they got it right, I also think the exterior and drivetrain are other places they got it right. I can't beleive it's only $2k more than a GXP 6. Insanity.

                    I want one.

Re: My first sighting of G8

I just saw a G8 for the first time outside a dealership a couple weeks ago and I was impressed. I'm not a huge fan of orange, but this one looked great (I also love the orange G6). The styling of the G8 looks amazing to me. When I went to my dealership one day, I parked next to a G8 and I just stared at the cars right next to each other. I honestly couldn't figure out which one I liked better because the G6 GXP looks so amazing and so does the G8.
