I need some thoughts on this big purchase. If you have dealt with these product enlighten me on pros and cons. I am willing to spen $400 and not much more. I have all exhuast done from the intake to the tips is SLP. I want the most power out of a programmer. I will re gear the car in the futur as well. I like the idea ofremoving codes and upping my MPG and alterating for gears and shift points.

Here is what I am scoping out. The first is so far my favorite.

My Dad used a Hypertech on his WS6. That's the only thing besides the exhaust and drop in filters he's done on it, he doesn't wanna mod it to far from stock. SLP's would be nice though. He really liked SLP, he almost got a Firehawk before he found out they weren't making a 1999 one and making a 30th instead.

Why dont you do westers/ tune time? I know they suport it and there like 399..... IMO prob better to do a flash tune like that.

I vote NO for JET, even the stage 2 for the jeep 4.0L clams 14-16 HP and only pulls 4HP on the top RPMs only

What model is your WS6? The 98s have a different PCM than the 99-02s. Make sure that your new programmer will work with it. Also be prepared to run only 93 octane fuel. I had a Diablosport Predator on my 01 Z28 and if I ran anything other than 93 octane BP fuel, I had a bad problem with pinging. For some reason, BP was the only 93 octane I could run without pinging. You may want to look into have a dyno session for your car to do a before and after. You will definitely want to check your A/F ratios after tuning, even if you are only running a tune on a basically stock car. From my experience in tuning LS1 Fbods, each car is different and has different gains. Ive seen one 02 SS take a Predator out of the box and gain about 20 rwhp/rwtq. Mine didn't like it was well and ended up with pinging more than anything. With Magnaflow muffler, lid, FRA, and custom Predator tune (Runnin With The Devil), my car made 302 rwhp, 32x ft/lbs through an automatic. My best 1/4 time was a 13.34 @ 106.x.

Re: Comp programmers for my Trans Am

Thats all good to know. thanks for the info. It looks like I will probably have to run 91 octane. i can't seem to find much info on it though. I can't even think of any gas station with 93 octane so i hope I don't have to do that.

this says up to 57HP but of course that is perfect scenerio with the perfect set up. I will be happy with anything over 25HP. It should correct my fuel burning too. It smells like I am running rich right now so I hope this helps.

I did double check and this will work on my vehicle. It will work on all LS1's from 98 to 2004.

What mods do you have on your LS1? Also, on the Hypertech tuner, does it allow you to adjust the spark and fuel in +- increments? The only way I could see a tuner gaining 50+ rwhp is if you are running cam and headers with a poor tune. 15-20 is more reasonable with your typical bolt ons such as lid and exhaust.

Re: Comp programmers for my Trans Am

I have in the order of air flow:

Slp lid to K&N to SLP MAS to Volant velocity stack (ported TBI) SLP headers to SLP loudmouth exhuast.

Throttle body is sghaved to open at 90 degrees

All Royal Purple oil = 10 HP

I dont know about the spark adjustment. I think it probably does it for the most fuel and HP efficient reading based on the vehicles output info.

Since you have headers, your car would like a good tune. Headers are known to cause untuned LS1 Fbods to run pig rich. I never upgraded to headers on mine. What I really wanted to do was install an LS6 cam in it, but I ended up letting it go for a C5 instead. I miss the crap out of my LS1 cars.

That makes sence because the car is def running rich. Thats one reason I wanted to program it.
