  • Any one else here own a Fiero/want one?

Just wondering if there were any other pontiac enthusiast here with one. Or was thinking of getting one.

As for me I got two of them an 85 and an 86 GT. The 86 has a 3.4 Camaro engine swap a very easy swap as it bolts directly in. Only have to swap the starters position along with just a couple of small details. My 85 will start collecting parts for a Caddy 4.6 N* swap and will be running a manual 5 speed set up. I have the engine and ECM/Harness just getting time to start working on it is a pain To make the swap a little easier I just bought an extra engine cradle so I can drive it stock till the big day gets here. Then its So far the biggest hurtle is getting the ECMs prom flashed and, calibrated to work without the eshift auto tranny.

I would love to get one. It would be even better if it's already modded with the N* or the 3.8 SC.

I wont be supprised if in a few years people start throwing in 3.6L and 3.6L D.I.'s. in these instead of the common 3.8L SC swaps since they generate more power, stock for stock.

That would be a good swap 3.6's put out over 245hp? Just think how fuel eff. that engine would be in the Fiero. If I am correct my 4.6 is in the 250-275 range not absoulte. So no not to much difference in hp at all. It is roumored that the 4.6 setup can get some good milage and still be sporty. But I doubt if I stand on it everywhere I go it will......

I wanted to do a 3.8SC but I got the 4.6 dirt cheap the car it was ripped out of was a 99 and had 76,---mi on the odo. at the time of the engine pick.

The larger v6 swapps are about as complex as the V8. I only went the V8 route bacause I love the V8 exaust note. This whole swap would be a ton easier if I didn't have to have a 5 speed.

{EDIT} Got the power numbers on the engine from wikipedia says the 94-04 STS has 300hp @ 6000 - 295lb-ft @ 4400 So a little more than I thought... That will make for a fun ride after compleation.

          I want either:

an 88 GT and keep it bone stock.

          OR

86/87 GT and do an engine swap of some sort.

3.6L Direct Injection found in the V6 Camaro's and CTS's make 300hp, 280ft-lb torque. The G6's plain 3.6L makes 251hp/251ft-lb.. and in other 3.6L applications like SUV's the ship them with a larger intake manifold that gives it another ~10hp and torque.

Likewise... if you're going Northstar Route... why not just go all out with a LS1 They're cheap now.

make sure you get the northstar resealed b4 you put it in.

you dont want to have to reseal it after you put it in the car

I would want to do an engine swap with a N* or L67 and get either a porshe or lambo full body kit for it. They look so real.

Why not a turbo V6 there?

With simple parts and tune you can squeeze 350hp with almost 400 torque in that little shoebox...

As for tranny, well a 200r4 with 2800 stall converter or T5 would work nice

I had two in the past, a 84 and a 87. Great styling but couldn't stand the driving position. Had lots of problems with the electrials. The 2.5 Ironduke was very coarse. A swap would be a huge improvement.

An 82 fiero was my first car, loved it and hated it at the same time..... Not bad for $100 bucks though.
