Chazde3's G6 GT, yay vandalism pg 4

Hey everyone, bought my '05 G6 GT back in January. Haven't done much at all to the car yet. I stumbled on this site while trying to figure out a starting issue which turned out to be the throttle body needing a good cleaning. I figured I would toss up a thread documenting anything I end up doing to her.

This last weekend I debadged the trunk and plastic dipped the front grill and both emblems. I think it makes the car look way better. I also plan on plastic dipping the stock frames since I really don't have cash in the budget for new rims. Next small project is replacing the 3rd brake light with LEDs that I just got off of a member on here.

Future plans include hopefully getting a CRAB Intake and FPU from Lampoon. Probably going to do a tiger crab intake mod when I do get the CAI installed.

Photos of the before and after from this weekends grill update project. Pictures of the whole car to come soon, probably get the DSLR out and go for a drive this weekend.

I would personally take an exacto to the chrome on the grill and dart but you did a good job with the dip. Looks good man.

I actually wanted to cover up the chrome on the grill surrounds because they were staring to rust up from the grills rusting and it wouldn't come off. Plus I prefer blacking out a car over covering it in chrome lol, which is why I am gonna plastic dip the chrome trim along the doors. The darts will have some upcoming work, they were starting to fade so I left them blacked out while I'm waiting to order replacement overlays from Grafxwerks.com. I'm going to order black arrowhead overlays with burgundy outlines and the star cutout. I think those would make the arrowheads very subtle but awesome looking. Eventually the star cutouts on the arrowheads and the center caps on the rims will be the only chrome parts on the car.

When i do my order I'm going to order a a third brake overlay with either G6 GT or chazde3, I cant decide on which at the moment. Also going to get a keyhole overlay for the trunk ad possibly some burgundy G6 door inlays at the same time.

So I figured out something awesome this morning. I have been looking into remote start options and found out most g6's came factory installed with remote starts. On my radio display I was given an option for turning the remote start feature on and off. I only had a 4 button key fob so I was unable to test the remote start. I was able to borrow a co-workers 5 button GM key fob and tossed my circuit board into his 5 button fob. Tested out the remote start and boom, she started up. Now I just have to get myself a 5 button fob and I have remote start for these cold Michigan mornings.

Yup, but my coworker has a buddy with a bunch of them and said he would toss one my way. Worst case, I talk to my junkyard mechanic, I'm sure he has some left over from scraped cars.

Honestly, if I was not more worried about my car and system being stolen I would have gone the same route. I started worrying even just leaving it in a parking lot while in the movies. I decided it was time to get a real alarm system and have felt much better since. I am glad though that you have a solution for your needs and you saved about 900 from what I spent lol.

Haha my biggest fear when I first got the car was having it get broken into. I'm not huge into sound systems so I have stuck with the stock Monsoon sound system. My neighborhood isn't that great at all right now but once I get my pre-approval for a home loan that will be changing. I also plan on keeping the car looking pretty stock so there wouldn't be much enticement for someone to break into it. I am planning on color matching components on the interior to the body color and possibly add red under dash lighting down the road though . Other than that no plan for interior modifications.

In my opinion a good looking G6 stock is enough to entice With the GXP I would think you would turn heads but with the street edition like I have said in other posts I am surprised I have not been sued for all the neck problems people have swinging around to look at the car. Just not used to it yet I suppose as it is my first really nice vehicle. I like the debadged look personally but I now get no end to people asking me what it is including a body shop I stopped at to get an estimate on painting a few pieces. When he could not figure it out and asked what it was and I told him it was a G6 he said "what did you do to it" lol. It made my day but needless to say I did not use them haha. Anyway, it was a good 900 spent as I feel much better with the 2 way on my keychain and I know that no one is touching it without that thing yelling at them like a wife. The remote start is pretty fun too I am glad you are enjoying yours. It breaks my heart when I see a run down G6

Oh yeah, stock ones are definitely enough to get some looks. I was lucky enough to go to a dealer at the right time. Beat someone on a test drive with it and ended up dropping $50 to hold the car while I got approval on the car loan from my credit union. Also got it for about 3 grand under bluebook

Man thats awesome that they held it for you. Not all of them would do that. I did not know how rare the GT and GXP were until after I got mine so I feel just as blessed as I am sure you do. I almost did not even go look at it because the photo the stupid dealership took were of the whale tail looking up from below. The thing look gigantic and really out of place. It was just right down the street so I figured hell I will just go check it out and see what else they have. Bought it the next AM lol. When I pulled up it was dark and the only light was a dull parking lot light and it still looked sexy. I waited to the next day to see what it would look like during the day. It still looked like sex so I had to hop on it. Now I am about 6k in mods and improvements later lol.

The postman dropped off a nice little present to me this morning. Got a Grand Am LED 3rd brake light to swap out with my stock 3rd brake.

Hope so. I plan on charging up the DSLR tonight and driving around tomorrow for some sweet shots. Gotta give her a bath tomorrow beforehand though.

So I got the led 3rd brake light installed last night, man that thing it bright. It was pitch black when I got done with it and there was a little bit on a fit up issue that I will need to look at in the light of day. I had hoped to get out today and take some pics of the whip today but Michigan weather had some other ideas. I woke up to snow on the car so I decided to stay cooped up and work on other projects.
