Well I haven't been too active on the forum the last couple of years. That's about to change now since I'm nearing graduation.

Basically I'm about to install a computer into my G6. A few of the features, aside from obviously a music library, include GPS, Radar, WiFi, USB LED control, and OBD-II.
Eventually I want to get some voice recognition going, rear camera, and an LCD to replace the Speedometer cluster, HVAC integration..

Here are the parts I have now..

I'm just so anxious to begin this page that I have done so pretty much with no pictures...
    HaHa
    Pics tomorrow!

Ok.. So I had no idea working with Bondo was so painful lol... I'm using the Metra 95-3302 Double-Din frame as the base of my fabrication. As you can see, it started off ugly..

I was lucky enough for my measurements drawn onto the cardboard to transfer to the hardened Bondo.

I sanded the bondo down somewhat to the desired measurements.. More Bondo on the way, due to air pockets I must've created. smh

Don't know if it's visible at all, but this is a pic of the Acrylic I scored to mount the motherboard on. Figured I'd give the motherboard some added strength to minimize flexing.

I love carputers! I want one so bad. What are the full specs for it? I see 8gb of ram. Core i7? Cant wait to see the progress!

You would have been better off fiberglassing that dashkit, cutting out what you dont want and then bondoing over that Would have been much easier

I might have to hammer out the Bondo and try that route if I can't get this thing to smooth out better...

                      Full Specs:
                      GIGABYTE GA-E350N-USB3 Mini ITX
                      AMD E-350 APU (1.6GHz, Dual-Core)
                      AMD Radeon HD 6310 graphics
                      Audio Channels
                      8 Channels
                      Onboard Gigabit LAN
1 x PCI Express x16 slot (For wireless)
                      1 x PS/2 keyboard/ mouse port
                      1 x D-Sub + DVI
                      1 x HDMI
                      4 x USB 2.0
                      2 x USB 3.0
                      1 x Optical (S/PDIF Out)

                      8Gb DDR3
500Gb 2.5" SATA (Springing for a SSD around Christmas)

The screen is a 7" Samsung LED LCD w/ Resistive touch. (Capacitive is out of my price range at the moment)
                      The screen receives HDMI, D-Sub, &/or A/V.
Physical Keyboard/Mouse is a Lenovo N5920 Multimedia Remote

I'm an Intel man, but the Intel Atom Mini-ITX boards don't offer as many features in my price range. I paid $90 for the Gigabyte board. The monetary drawbacks of being a college student.. smh

(Edit) Oh and the power supply is a M2-ATX 200W PSU, forgot to mention that in the specs

Thanks for all the enthusiasm guys, I definitely need the motivation. My roommate is going to help me with the Bondo issues tomorrow, he's an industrial design major. So this is right up his alley.

7 inches and you needed you fill in that much? I wouldn't have thought it woul already almost fit perfectly in there.

If you wanna get it smoother just keep on sanding it with 120grit and wear it down. You may have to get some glazing putty to fill in the pin holes.

That's what I plan on doing eventually. I've seen people use an OBD-II to relay the Speedometer readings and such. And we're all nerds to even be on a forum, lol
