Re: Silver Trim pieces painted! ( PICS UP)

When you paint the interior pieces and start taking off the clear coat youll need to get it all of if you want a smooth finish. Has nothing to do with orange peel.

If you keep redoing it. Wet sand and primer then wet sand the primer till it smoothes it out thats what the primer is for. For a gloss finish clear coat its really simple.
Did mine one time and it still looks Glossy from doing those steps.

^if you're going to all that you might as well just use high build primer instead of sanding, spraying, sanding, spraying.........

If you want to do a good job. I hardly see it as alot of work
30-60 seconds of sanding with 1500 grit paper and that's only if you take all the clear coat off. Like someone stated they had problems with. But do what you want.

I'm talking about the little chrome piece on your shifter itself. I assume it's just adhesived on there but I don't want to go ripping and pulling to find out I messed something up.

This is what the shifter looks like on my 06 gt:

Mine is attached at one point on the back (red circle), and removed it by pulling towards the rear of the vehicle at the two yellow circles. You could also insert a flat screwdriver (with duct tape on the end as to not scratch), and pry the silver peice towards the rear of the vehicle.
I found that it was not adhesived in any way, but was a sort-of peg that the silver peice was secured to, it just poped off.
Regarding the bottom silver peice, I dont know hot to remove it.

If you look at the piece around the shifter...its pretty ugly to say the least. It's certainly worse in person with orange peel and a few dings. I also managed to touch the paint without knowing it so when it dried it's a perfect thumb print right by the top. I just wanted all of the pieces in so I did that one a bit quicker than I should have
