    Re: F40-6 Speed MTX

what do you guy think top speed will be winging the motor at 6,000 rpm?
will 550hp be able to keep up with the supercharge 2008 vette?

my F40 swap is almost completed.
    http://www.lesabret.com/phpBB/viewtopic ... &start=150

This transmission is easier to swap to the 3800 series I and II, with compare to the 86-91 3800 v6.

            Re: F40-6 Speed MTX

The project is still comming along. Some of the parts are on back order from GM (shifter boot, and botton). so far I was able to mount the 6 speed shifter, with cable. The shifting is nice and smooth.

Does the cable on the left engage reverse?

the black cable engage the reverse gear. the white cable slide the gear selector into the 1-2 / 3-4 / 4-5 and reverse row.

after ripping mine apart last night and playing with it i was under the impression that the white cable determined reverse, 1/2, 3/4, 5/6 and the black cable determined up or down...

you're badass by the way... which parts are from the f40 and which are from the l67? i would be way interested in how you make the tranny hold up to more power as well

                          Re: F40-6 Speed MTX

the inner is from the f40 (inner hub and tri-pod bearing) the shaft and outter cv joint is the L67 (supercharge). the shaft was cut and spline (copy) the same has the f40 inner shaft then a clip is place on the end of the shaft, so the tri-pod does not get rupture during heavy (HP) rotation. cutting the spline is time consuming and the tri-pod MUST fit tight to the shaft spline.

Old post I know. But this is the first I've heard of it. Not that I'm going to swap my perfectly working F40 transmission out if its not the revised trans, but I have only read that 2007 model years got the revised gearing for the F40.

The revised tranny still has the grinding issues that the 06 does. Just a bit less wide spread. Its only faster because of the low gear ratio its equipt with. But faster as in maybe a .1 of the second at best.

My post was more about nailing down the time when GM switched to the revised gearing and proof there-of.
